Under Armour’s Cheesy Take on the Masters

Salty that you can’t make it to the Masters this year to taste the classic pimento cheese sandwich? Under Armour’s new limited-edition golf collection will serve as some consolation.

The cheesy golf collection is inspired by, of all things, Augusta’s famed sandwich. The eight-piece pack is headlined by Under Armour’s Drive Pro and Phantom golf shoes.

Each piece is tastefully draped in hues of green, grey, white or tan. And, of course, each special piece is blessed with UA’s new pimento cheese sandwich emblem. I’m no graphic designer but the logo is absolutely “S-tier” (as the kids say these days). Translation: it’s great.

This is, without a doubt, one of the more subtle Masters-themed product drops this year. And that’s a good thing. For a brand like Under Armour which is really dipping its toes into the world of themed golf gear, I think the new limited-edition collection is a “major” win.

You can shop the entire drop now at Under Armour.

With New 3-D Printed Avoda Irons, The Bryson Experience Returns At The Masters

We have the makings of a compelling weekend at the 88th Masters.

A possible central character? It could, somehow, be the enigmatic Bryson DeChambeau.

DeChambeau shot a 2-under 65 (if you know, you know) on Thursday to take an unexpected lead at Augusta National, one stroke clear of Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1 who came into the tournament as an overwhelming favorite and opened the Masters with a firm statement that he is still the man to beat.

But while Scheffler put together a nearly perfect bogey-free round in his march toward a potential second major victory, DeChambeau’s cameo immediately injected an added level of intrigue into the tournament.

And he’s doing so with irons that just hit the USGA conforming list four days ago.

Masters Announces Support of Ball Rollback

Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley made it clear the Masters supports the USGA and R&A’s golf ball rollback plans, slated to take effect in 2028 for professionals.

Ridley, speaking during his annual Wednesday press conference on the eve of the Masters, commented on Augusta National’s reluctance to continue lengthening the course—which has consistently occurred over the past two decades.

“I’ve said in the past that I hope we will not play the Masters at 8,000 yards but that is likely to happen in the not-too-distant future under current standards,” Ridley said. “Accordingly, we support the decisions that have been made by the R&A and the USGA as they have addressed the impact of distance at all levels of the game.”

A complete breakdown of the rollback can be read here but the short summary is that golf’s governing bodies are changing golf ball testing standards to limit distance. The new rules, announced at the end of last year, go into effect Jan. 1, 2028, as they relate to professional golf.

There is skepticism over whether the PGA Tour will adopt the new rules but Ridley said he hoped it would be universally accepted so the golf world could avoid additional heartburn.
