Parents: Greg Norman Wants To Your Kids Cell Number And That's Not A Good Idea When The Saudis Are Involved

Art Stricklin files a fascinating piece for Golf.com on LIV Golf’s unsuccessful recruitment of recent UT grad and national champion Parker Coody.

The LIV proposal included a multi-million dollar signing bonus in exchange for a two-year commitment, Coody said. Also included, Coody said, were all travel expenses to tournaments this year and next, plus guaranteed prize money regardless of where he finished in any event.

Coody said he was given 12 days to decide on the offer.

Norman also requested Coody’s cell-phone number so he could pitch Coody personally.

“I shut that down in a hurry,” said Kyle, who also played golf for the University of Texas before testing his game in the pro ranks.

The Strategic Alliance Is Alive! DP World Tour Gets Around To Sanctioning Defectors

The PGA Tour’s “strategic alliance” with the DP World Tour seemed on thin ice after Wednesday’s presser where Jay Monahan did not include them in his opening remarks.

But a day after it was expected, the Tour formerly known as European fined defectors to LIV Golf and will not allow them to play in three upcoming co-sanctioned events with the PGA Tour, including the prestigious Genesis Scottish Open.

A Press Association piece noted this distinction between the Tours (on top of announcing fine amounts), which could suggest the Europeans are buying time while negotiating with LIV’s Saudi sugar daddies.

While the PGA Tour immediately indefinitely banned all their members within minutes of the players teeing off at Centurion Club a fortnight ago the DP World Tour delayed making a decision until now.

Pelley consulted the organisation’s wider membership before the decision was taken to sanction the involved players, who in addition to the Scottish Open - traditionally used as a warmup for the Open Championship the following week - have also been banned from PGA Tour co-sanctioned Barbasol Championship and the Barracuda Championship next month.

BEST GOLF RAIN GEAR 2022

BEST GOLF RAIN GEAR 2022

It’s that time of year again where those summer showers come out of nowhere so it’s important you have a rain suit to keep you dry.

This is a category where the prices of rain gear can deter you from purchasing but ask yourself this question: Do I invest in a top-quality rain suit that may last my whole golfing career or buy a cheap jacket every year?

Whatever your preference may be, we have the answer: the best of the best (and pricier), rain suits under $300 or a jacket for about 50 bucks.

Most of the rain gear, like waterproof bags, did a good job at keeping water out but not every one went the extra mile with breathability. The companies that did well made breathability a top priority so you don’t feel like you’re golfing inside a trash bag.

Whether you’re looking to buy golf rain gear today, buying advice to get started or just want a closer look at what’s on the market, this guide will help you find the right golf rain gear to fit your needs.

Quadrilateral: Major(s) News & Notes, June 23, 2022

If there be added to its golfing charms the charms of all its surrounding--the grand history of St. Andrews and its sacred memories, its delightful air, the song of its numberless larks, which nestle among the whines, the scream of the seabirds flying overhead, the blue sea dotted with a few fishing boats, the noise of its waves in the bay of Eden as seen from the high hole when the tide is full, the venerable towers and the broken outline of the ancient city, and in the distance the Forfarshire coast, with the range of the Sidlaws, and further off, the Grampian Hills, it may be truly said that, probably, no portion of ground of the same size on the whole surface of the globe has afforded so much innocent enjoyment to so many people of all ages from two to eighty-nine, and during so many generations. Monahan Rolls Out PGA Tour Revamped Tour: Wraparound Goes And Several Events Get $20 Million Purses

A lot of folks summed up Jay Monahan’s presser. David Dusek’s interpretation of the answers hits on the key points.

The full transcript is posted at ASAPSports.com.

There were obvious omissions in today’s slapped together reaction to LIV Golf:

After all this time of disruption, this is the most creative you’ve got? More money to events already in good shape, smaller fields and no cuts (except The Players)? All those fancy pizzamakers, perks and fancy offices producing a WGC concept light on the world or originality?

What is going on with the updated DP World Tour alliance details that were close to being unveiled?

Rory On LIV Flippers: My Duplicitous Peers

If I had my way there would be a troupe of cavalry horses running though every trap and bunker on the course before a tournament started, where only a niblick could get the ball out and then but only a few yards. I have seen a number of traps and bunkers that afforded better lies and easier strokes than the fairway. This, of course, is ridiculous. C.B. MACDONALD

Smooth, Balanced Swing for Success!

The US Open was a spectacular display of golf perfection by the best golfers in the world. The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts was a ball strikers dilemma. Many of the fairways were setup like a snake going through grass and the rough was even worse than the deep rough plays the previous week at the Canadian Open. Only the best ball strikers survived.

I was surprised to see that most golfers who hit errant shots seemed to know that they were in trouble as soon as they hit the ball. Their swing either ended up with a one-handed grip on the club or they were struggling to keep their balance. They seemed to sense that their shot was in trouble from the get-go. They had either rushed their backswing or tried to add more power into their down-swing. They lost their balance!

Frustrating Miss-Hits Happen
Recreational golfers create a lot more miss-hits than the pros. That becomes a lot more evident when you play with golfers who shoot under 40 for 9 holes. Most of their drives are dead nuts on the center of their club face. Then, out-of-the-blue, they hit a duck hook or booming slice for no apparent reason. Of course, this happens more often for higher handicappers and their miss-hits get worse as they try to hit the greens in regulation.

If the pros and recreational golfers could just eliminate their adrenaline rush to avoid those miss-hits, golf would be easy. I must admit that Matt Fitzpatrick’s miracle bunker shot on the final hole of the 2022 US Open must have been filled with adrenaline.

Matt Fitzpatrick’s final bunker shot in the 2022 US Open was a fast and furious, 150 yard, 6 iron miracle shot. Amazingly he finished almost in balance.

Strategy to Avoid Miss-Hits
1/ Make a controlled practice swing exactly with the speed that you want to execute your shot.
2/ Your drives need more body rotation to generate more power, but your focus needs to be on a smooth accelerating swing through your ball and up your target line
3/ Limit the backswing for your iron shots with your straight leading arm at about the 10 o’clock position. Your power is primarily coming from the release of your lagging wrists through impact. 4/ A limited iron backswing also helps you avoid casting from the top and helps you control your swing direction up your target line.
5/ Include a flat wrist lag in your backswing and a full follow through to a balanced pose for your drives and fairway shots.

Ball Lab: Bridgestone TOUR B XS Review (2022)

MyGolfSpy Ball Lab is where we quantify the quality and consistency of the golf balls on the market to help you find the best ball for your money. Today, we’re taking a look at the 2022 Bridgestone Tour B XS. To learn more about our test process, how we define “bad” balls, check out our About MyGolfSpy Ball Lab page.

About the Bridgestone TOUR B XS

It’s strange to think that we’ve been at this Ball Lab thing long enough to measure three generations of Bridgestone TOUR B Series.

With that should come some familiarity. Not much has changed in that the TOUR B XS remains “the Tiger Ball“. It’s not the softest in the TOUR B lineup but it is the softer of the two balls that Bridgestone bills as being for high swing-speed players.

It remains a three-piece offering with 330 dimples. The major point of differentiation between the new ball and the prior generation is the addition of the REACTIV IQ cover. As with other Bridgestone offerings, the bulk of product sold in the U.S. is manufactured at the company’s factory in Covington, Ga.
