If this past weekend’s sneak peeks at the new Mizuno ST-G 220 driver and T22 wedges are any indication, Mizuno appears to be adopting a stealth launch strategy.

Stealth as in if you blinked, you missed it.

You want a deep dive into face technology, shaft options and pricing? We ain’t got it. You want bounce details, grind options and available lofts? We ain’t got that, either.

What we do have are some PR pictures and a couple of YouTube videos from Mizuno’s European Tour Workshop.

We’ll cull what we can for you. But what follows, dear reader, is pretty much all we can tell you.

Today, the crown prince of putters, Scotty Cameron, announced his new Champions Choice putter line. This limited release features three spruced-up models from Cameron’s Special Select putter line: the Newport, Newport 2 and Flowback 5.5.

While these will all feature custom aesthetics, that is not the cool factor for this release. What is it that makes these so cool?

All Are Teryllium-Faced Button Backs!

Of all the Scotty Cameron designs, his Button Back putters are my favorites. At one time, the first-generation teryllium putters were my favorites. I love the feel of the teryllium insert and the Newport longneck is a head style of legend. Although my Tel3 Newport LN looks like it was left out in the rain for a season or two, it is still one of the jewels in my putter collection.

So why do I think the Button Back version is better? Basically, the answer is “time.” With the modern Button Back, Scotty has had time to perfect his machining process and to fine-tune the relationship between the teryllium and polymer in the insert. You get the pedigree of the teryllium combined with the modern milling of the 21st Century. That’s a win-win combination for me.

Spirit of the Game: Morikawa’s Historic Win at The Open Championship

Tiger’s killer irons and instinct. Phil’s courage, smile and warmth.

Fellow Californian Collin Morikawa invoked thoughts of the two most successful Golden State-bred golfers who came before him as he became the first player to win two different majors in his debut at The 149th Open.

One is reluctant to tie the 24-year-old’s achievements to these legends, such is their enormity, but it is impossible not to watch the now five-time PGA TOUR winner and be amazed. False dawns for new prodigies have come and gone but in Morikawa we seem blessed with a stayer.

Seamus Power won the Barbasol Championship on Sunday for his first PGA Tour victory, beating J.T. Poston with a tap-in par on the sixth hole of a playoff.

The first time Collin Morikawa played the PGA Championship, he won it. The first time at The Open, which typically takes a learning curve, he won it. At 24, he looks like he has been doing this forever instead of for the first time.

Jordan Spieth, a three-time major champion, ended up finishing two strokes behind Collin Morikawa after posting a 4-under 66 over the final 18 holes on Sunday at The Open.

Louis Oosthuizen produced an amazing two months of golf, contending in three consecutive major championships, but he simply has no hardware to show for it after failing to hold on to a 54-hole lead at Royal St. George's.

Collin Morikawa wins the Open Championship by two strokes over Jordan Spieth to claim his second career major.

Bryson DeChambeau concluded a tumultuous week at The Open with a 5-under-par 65 on Sunday and said he will "learn from" his final round when he prepares for next year's major.

James Hahn missed a chance to shoot the 13th sub-60 round in PGA Tour history Saturday. He settled for a 12-under 60 and a chance to win Barbasol Championship.

Thai sisters Ariya and Moriya Jutanugarn won the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational on Saturday, shooting their second 11-under 59 in best-ball play for a three-stroke victory over defending champions Cydney Clanton and Jasmine Suwannapura.

Rose Zhang won the U.S. Girls' Junior, becoming just the eighth golfer to win both the junior and the U.S. Women's Amateur crowns.

Three recognizable names -- Oosthuizen, Morikawa, Spieth -- sit at the top. But they aren't alone. The final day of the final major of 2021 won't be boring. We get you ready for it.
