1. Have a daily morning routine
How you start your day has a big effect on what you achieve during it and how much you grow. Every day is precious and your morning routine can remind you of the importance of it. Most of the world’s most successful people start their day early enough to go through a daily morning ritual which sets the tone for a great day. If you think you “don’t have time” to spend 30-45 mins to practice meditation, visualization, gratitude and set goals for the day, then think again as it’s worth every minute of the time spent (and you more than get the time back with increased focus, energy and a positive attitude). Create the time by going to bed an hour earlier, so you can get up an hour earlier. Instead of reaching for your phone as soon as you wake up and exposing yourself to whatever news and communication might await, get your mind ready and prepared for making it the best day possible.
2. Define your success for the day and honor that commitment to yourself
Long-term goals are your dreams and your short-term goals are the daily and weekly attainable goals that take you closer to them. Achieving your short term daily goals gives you a hit of the feel good chemical Dopamine which increases motivation and effort. It’s important that you feel this sense of accomplishment and progress at the end of the day as it builds momentum.
Unfortunately, too many people don’t, because of the way they set their daily goals. From my experience, I think that daily input goals are better than output goals. With a huge list of tasks to do each day and success being measured by completion, it’s easy to feel like you underachieved. Instead, set goals by time spent, rather than the outcome. E.g. If you are writing a book, instead of setting the goal of “completing chapter 1” today, you set the goal of “writing 500 words”.
Try to do the same things at the same time each day e.g. My first task of the day is to check and respond to emails (and I try to limit email communication to this time). Routine makes tasks easier to do each day (as they become habits) and require less effort and energy, meaning you have more for being creative. Train your discipline each day – it will help you build self-trust, a factor of confidence.
3. Become more focused
Following on from #2, better focus should be an intention for each day. Studies prove that multi tasking only works for a very small percentage of people. To get the best out of yourself requires being able to stay focused on a task despite all the external and internal distractions that will be trying to get your attention (for most of us that comes from our phones). Make 2021 the year of self-control and spending less time being distracted. Build trust in yourself by knowing that you can resist the temptations of more pleasurable things to do during the time you’ve allocated to a task. If you don’t you’ll burn valuable time and energy by having to refocus and the quality of the output will not be as high. Being aware of what your distractions are will help you avoid them. By improving focus, you’ll notice that you can get better at staying immersed in a task (not distracted or thinking about the outcome of the task), which is synonymous with the “Flow State” and high performance. Developing this skill will help you stay calm, think clearly and focus on what you need to in the pressure moments on the golf course.
PXG 0211 IRONS: KEY TAKEAWAYS
Give golfers a more affordable option ($195 per club)Match specs of previous-generation 0311 GEN3 XP ironsDesigned to fit a broad range of playersThere’s a bit of a curveball with the new PXG 0211 irons. They’re less expensive than you were probably thinking.
PXG isn’t like other golf equipment manufacturers. Companies like Ferrari, Rolex and others of their ilk build first and price later. Working without the typical constraints of time and cost can have its benefits. As a result, golfers expect a bit of sticker shock when perusing new PXG equipment. However, with the new PXG 0211 irons, the approach is a bit different.
PXG 0211 Irons: The Basics
The PXG 0211 irons are a cost-conscious entry into the PXG equipment line-up. When the 0311 GEN3 irons launched roughly 12 months ago, the stated price was $425 a club. For most golfers, that’s a deal-breaker

PXG 0211 Metalwoods – Key Takeaways
PXG has released a new 0211 lineup.Drivers, fairway woods and hybrids are available.Retail prices are below the market average – $375 driver, $325 fairway wood, $275 hybrid. The start of a new year and the release of a full line of 0211 clubs provide PXG with an opportunity to reestablish its identity.
What’s true for most of us is true for PXG: 2020 was an odd year.
How’s that for an understatement?
To its credit, when COVID hit, PXG jumped ahead of the curve. It launched a pair of prototype drivers while extending its “Hero” military and first-responder discount program to the masses. The special pricing was set to expire after a month but was extended and extended again and again until Hero pricing simply became what their stuff costs.
A tech story behind the proto drivers was never discussed.

I recently sent out a Golf Truism with our weekly blog: “Why does it takes 17 holes to warm up?” That thought comes up when the golf Gods allow us to hit an amazing shot on the 18th hole to make sure that we come back again. It’s could be that or your body is tired so you are extremely relaxed or your mind has finally dropped all of its external thoughts so that you can finally focus on golf.
Staying relaxed and visualizing the shot that you want to make must be a controlling factor for your success. Swinging with all your might is definitely not a good solution. Golf is NOT a “no brainer”.
Don’t let your mind wander. Jack Nicklaus lost a Masters Tournament when he lost his concentration as he shook a fans hand during his walked up to the green on the 18th hole. He lost his focus and missed a key putt and lost the tournament. He commented in retrospect that he never did that again. If you want to be good at golf you need to zone in and tune out everything else. Keep your mind on your preparation and execution for each shot.
Great golfers take these 4 distinct steps:
1/ Clear their mind before they setup to execute their shot.
2/ Decide on the shot that they want to make (based on experience).
3/ Visualize their ball flight to their target.
4/ Zone into a rhythm for a full backswing and release to a balanced finish.
The mechanical components of their swing are NOT in their mind.

British golfers Lee Westwood and Graeme McDowell have backed calls the recreational resumption of golf in England after courses in England were temporarily shut down.

MyGolfSpy Ball Lab is where we quantify the quality and consistency of the golf balls on the market to help you find the best ball for your money. Today, we’re taking a look at the Callaway Chrome Soft X. An overview of the equipment we use can be found here. To learn more about our test process, how we define “bad” balls and our True Price metric, check out our About MyGolfSpy Ball Lab page.
For the first Ball Lab of 2021, we’re going back to the ball (or at least a similarly named one) that started it all. As the only high-compression offering (which I’d argue makes it the only legitimate Tour ball) in the Callaway ball lineup, the Chrome Soft X is going to be the better option (among Callaway balls) for the overwhelming majority of higher swing speed players.
That, of course, is only half of the story. The more relevant aspect for today’s discussion centers around general quality. Our test of the 2020 Chrome Soft suggested Callaway had some work to do regarding the quality and consistency of its golf balls.
It is what it is.

Bridgestone e6: Key Takeaways
Bridgestone’s No. 1 selling ball gets a larger, softer core.Two-piece construction for players who like soft feel.$21.99 per dozen.Available at retail Feb. 26.Today’s announcement of a new Bridgestone e6 golf ball comes as somewhat of a surprise. It’s a bit ahead of Bridgestone’s normal two-year cycle so perhaps Bridgestone is getting a jump on Q1 sales.
Over its 15-year life, the Bridgestone e6 has morphed into a soft, two-piece, value-priced distance ball. And this newest version is touted as the softest-feeling e6 yet.
“It’s evolved over time,” says Bridgestone Golf Ball Marketing Manager Elliot Mellow. “Our goal is to focus on the core e6 player who’s looking for distance and soft feel. But we also want to create a product that would resonate with the three million new and returning golfers.”
Bridgestone e6 – Softly, Softly
The 2019 Bridgestone e6 iteration was, with a compression of 44, among the softest balls Bridgestone had ever produced. Technically, the new ball is a bit firmer at 45. But Mellow says that, with this ball, 45 is just a number.

Just five minutes ago, when I wrote about the TaylorMade SIM2 MAX D, I mentioned that we’re now into the golf equipment world’s annual release SZN. So you had to know the Callaway Epic Speed Driver collection was coming.
As has become tradition for Callaway, the number of models on the USGA list is basically double what we would expect to find their way to retail.
If you’re keeping score at home, that’s 3 for you and 3 for the Tour.

— Callaway Golf (@CallawayGolf) January 4, 2021Jailbreak AI Speed Frame
The story here, as it always is with Callaway, is speed. So much so that “Speed” itself is in three of the product names. Based on the stamp on the bottom of the sole and Callaway’s recently released teaser video, we can reasonably assume Callaway will position Epic Speed (and Epic Max) as faster because of the new Jailbreak AI Speed Frame.

With the first PGA TOUR event of the new year, it’s not any particular surprise that new drivers like the TaylorMade SIM2 MAX D are hitting the USGA conforming clubs list. It is, after all, “release SZN,” and that means a veritable cornucopia of new products will be launching over the next three weeks.
Even in a year when the PGA Merchandise Show will be entirely virtual, the industry’s cadence will not be disrupted … at least not any longer.
When the TaylorMade SIM2 and SIM2 MAX landed on the USGA list last month, we fully expected the SIM2 MAX D (the draw version) would follow. And so here you go.
TaylorMade SIM2 MAX D – What We Can See
As is typical for USGA photos, there’s much left to the imagination but there are bits that are plenty obvious.

Golf was very different in 2020. So as a new year starts at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, we look at how it will be very much the same and entirely different in the coming year.
