Limited-edition golf equipment isn’t exactly a new concept, but 2025 has been the year these special drops have absolutely caught fire. Callaway’s golf ball drops have been relentless (and fun), TaylorMade’s major collections have been excellent and COBRA’s Chipotle collab and Bridgestone Pabst balls deserve special callouts. What all of this suggests is that golfers have an appetite for gear that’s both functional and exclusive.
As we turn toward summer’s home stretch, Callaway is keeping the limited-edition train rolling with arguably its most striking release of the year: the Opus Platinum Craftsman Collection wedges.
Available exclusively on callawaygolf.com starting Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. Eastern, these aren’t your typical limited-edition cosmetic makeover wedges. The Craftsman Collection takes Callaway’s Opus Platinum wedge and transforms it into something that looks like it was forged by a master blacksmith … or at least a hammer-happy apprentice.
About the Opus Craftsman Collection
The standout feature of the Opus Carftsman Collection is the hammered back design that gives each wedge a handcrafted, artisanal appearance. It’s the kind of look meant to scream “premium craftsmanship” – think of those high-end kitchen knives that cost more than most people’s monthly car payment, except these are designed to help you stick it close from 100 yards.
Callaway is offering the Craftsman Collection in two finishes: a bold brushed copper that’ll definitely turn heads, and a more understated black satin PVD for those who prefer their gear to whisper rather than shout.

And it’s so freaking good.
Seriously, FootJoy has been on a heater this year (I’ve shouted it from the rooftops). And this latest drop, which I’m dubbing “mellow mint” is absolute fire.
The good news? This is a general release colorway, meaning no limited quanities.
The bad news? Right now, it seems to be exclusive to the USA. Oh, and my wife already told me no.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t check them out. You can shop this brand new stunning colorway of the FootJoy Premiere Series Field now at FootJoy.

Earlier this year, Jordan Brand reimagined its golf lineup with the introduction of a new “flagship” golf shoe, the Air Rev.
A $280 golf shoe with the “latest” and “greatest” tech.
More like a $280 flop.
After spending some time playing in the Jordan Air Rev, I can confidently say two things:
What I reported in my initial article (which I was flamed for, by the way) was correct, and secondly, that this is the worst golf shoe I’ve personally worn this year.

Editor’s Note: This story includes spoilers of Happy Gilmore 2, which came out on Netflix on July 25.
If you’re a millennial golfer like me, you probably grew up watching Happy Gilmore.
On the list of quotable golf movies, Happy Gilmore trails only Caddyshack. It’s the kind of movie that aged well enough to where my friends and I would throw it on randomly—even decades after its 1996 release.
One of the reasons it gained such traction was that Happy Gilmore did not try to simulate golf in any real sense. It’s so far beyond unrealistic that it crosses well into the absurd.
Like many Adam Sandler movies, it’s juvenile and the plot is teeming with holes. You aren’t watching for the plot or cinematography. It’s a time to turn your brain off and laugh at the ridiculousness of the proceedings.
Grant Horvat recently dropped a video where he tried to beat Tommy Fleetwood, starting at 5 under par. If you like a good golf match, go ahead and watch it. However, if you’re like me and want to learn from professionals about their game, their mindset and how they got to where they are, this video offers something even better.
My favorite part is a moment where Fleetwood talks candidly about hitting a low point in his career and the drill that helped rebuild his swing from the ground up.
The low point
In the middle of the round, Fleetwood reflects on a difficult stretch during his career. Around 2015 or 2016, he says, things completely unraveled. He felt like the biggest issue was off the tee. He even admits he developed the driver yips.
Instead of hiding it, Fleetwood speaks honestly about the struggle and how he reached out to his childhood coach, Alan Thompson, in search of answers. What followed was a total swing rebuild that started with one simple concept.
The fix
To rebuild his swing, Fleetwood didn’t chase new technology or complex mechanics. His coach gave him a straightforward drill that removed most variables: stand extra wide, keep the arms straight, eliminate the wrists and rotate the body to hit the ball.

We found another popular golf question making the rounds on Reddit: Why is golf so hard? Is it the swing? The mental game? The chaos of trying to hit a perfect shot on imperfect ground? Hundreds of golfers weighed in with their takes. Some were funny, some brutally honest, and many painfully relatable. Below, we’ve pulled together the most common reasons people say golf is so difficult. What did they miss?
What Reddit had to say about why golf is so hard
The mental game breaks you
Golf is not just about trying not to hit bad shots. The bad shots are coming. It’s how you handle them and what it does to your mindset. Redditors pointed out that most players turn one bad swing into a disaster hole or a disaster round.
Bad practice habits (Or no practice at all)
One of the biggest issues that makes golf so challenging is that the average golfer doesn’t practice regularly. When they do, they practice the wrong things. Players hit 40 drives and call that a practice session instead of adding pressure and creating realistic on-course conditions.
One comment was:
“They hit 15 range balls, then shove down a hot dog and a beer at the turn, and wonder why they’re not breaking 90.”
