Callaway’s Limited-Edition Sandstorm Elyte Drivers: Desert Camo Meets Elyte Performance

Callaway’s Limited-Edition Sandstorm Elyte Drivers: Desert Camo Meets Elyte Performance

Limited-edition offerings have become an ever-growing part of the equipment industry’s playbook. Creating cool fun, or just alternative designs and updated colorways provides a hook for golfers who might have passed on the initial release or simply gives hardcore brand enthusiasts something new to lust after.

It’s in that spirit that Callaway has released the limited-edition Elyte Sandstorm drivers.

Didn’t love the stock Elyte but Sandstorm really speaks to me (said somebody, maybe … at least Callaway hopes).

Available in Elyte, Elyte TD and Elyte TD Max versions, the Sandstorm collection is similarly themed (though differently painted) to last season’s Paradym Ai Smoke Tactical Driver. I kinda liked the traditional green camo on that one and I have a growing suspicion that what might be reasonably described as military-themed limited editions may be part of Callaway’s playbook moving forward.

This time around, it’s a desert camo (aka Sandstorm) which I suppose is somewhere between dusty brown and khaki. The aesthetic is largely limited to the sole with just a splash of Sandstorm coloring on the crown by way of the Callaway logo on the standard Elyte along with the Elyte branding on the heel of each model.

For those who demand their limited editions be totally themed-out, you’ll be pleased to know the Sandstorm Elyte drivers come with Tensei Sandstorm shafts, Golf Pride MCC Black/Sandstorm grips and matching tube-style headcovers.

The desert warfare aesthetic will cost you an additional $50 above the standard retail offerings which puts the Elyte at $649.99 and the Triple Diamond versions at $699.99.

Is the Sandstorm Elyte worth the extra cash? That depends on how much you value exclusivity and whether the desert camo aesthetic speaks to you. Performance-wise, it’s the same Elyte you could have bought three months ago.

You’re paying for the look, not any performance enhancement. But in a game where confidence matters and looking good often translates to playing well, the price of admission might just be worth it for some.

For the rest of us, the standard Elyte drivers perform just fine and the $50 savings might be better invested in a few buckets of range balls or post-round beverages to drown your sorrows after another day of missed fairways.
