Clicgear Pushcarts Sold To Golf Supply Wholesaler

Clicgear Pushcarts, a leading manufacturer of golf pushcarts, is being sold to GT Golf Supply of Vista, Calif.

GT Golf Supply is the largest wholesale distributor of golf course and driving range supplies and golf accessories in the U.S. It has also been the exclusive distributor of Clicgear pushcarts in the U.S. and Mexico since 2016. It’s buying global distribution rights and all associated intellectual property from the Hong Kong-based Clicgear Industrial Design, Ltd.

“Clicgear has led the way in the golf pushcart market,” GT Golf Supply CEO Steven McArthur said in a prepared statement. “We’re excited to bring its brand and intellectual property into the GT Golf family. We have bold new products in the works that we can’t wait to deliver to our loyal customers around the globe.”

The Clicgear 4.0 copped Editors Choice in MyGolfSpy’s 2024 puschart testing. The four-wheeled Clicgear 8.0+ was named most stable.

What does it mean?

As mentioned, GT Golf Supply has been Clicgear’s exclusive distributor since 2016. In 2023, it acquired a key competitor, ProActive Sports of Canby, Ore. ProActive had previously been Clicgear’s exclusive distributor for the U.S. and Mexico.

So, in a sense, GT Golf Supply’s connection to Clicgear dates back more than a decade. In the short term, we can assume the sale will mean very little to the likes of you and me. In the long term, such a move can often pump new life into a popular brand.

Or … new leadership can often take the brand into a completely different direction and negatively impact what made the brand successful in the first place. The long connection with Clicgear, however, suggests this is unlikely.

GT Golf Supply’s main business is stuff you see at golf courses and driving ranges every day but rarely think about where they come from. We’re talking everything from benches, yardage markers, bag drop stands, cups, pins and flags, water cooler stations and hole signage.

It also sells driving range mats, target signs and everyday pro shop supplies like tees, pencils and scorecards. GT Golf also supplies pro shops with grips from all the major manufacturers.

The upside for GT Golf Supply is obvious. It now owns the Clicgear pushcart brand and, more importantly, all of the brand’s intellectual property. The Hong Kong-based Clicgear Industrial Design remains the actual manufacturer. It is, however, turning over all brand rights and global distribution to GT Golf Supply.
