If You’re Walking More Rounds This Summer, Bring These 6 Things

If You’re Walking More Rounds This Summer, Bring These 6 Things

Walking the golf course burns more calories, helps you stay focused on your game and, if done correctly, won’t slow you down. In fact, you might feel better overall just by walking instead of riding your next rounds. Walking also means carrying or pushing your gear, managing heat and staying comfortable for four to five hours. These six things make it easier to enjoy the round and finish strong.

Callaway Golf Cooling Towel

I’m a big fan of a great golf towel. I use it to keep my hands and clubs clean and dry but I also use it for drills on the range. However, the cooling towel is different. It’s specifically to cool your neck or arms. It helps to regulate body temperature during longer walks in the heat.

This is a lightweight addition that clips to your bag. It’s a simple and affordable addition that works.

PING Tour Golf Glove

The PING Tour golf glove was the runner-up in our 2025 Best Golf Glove testing. The great thing about the PING Tour golf glove is that it gives you great grip without sacrificing feel. PING included added ventilation and moisture-wicking material to make it a good choice for walking your way through a sweaty round.

Melin A-Game Hydro Hat

The Melin A-Game Hydro Hat is more than just a way to keep your face shaded. It’s built with performance technology that helps you manage heat, sweat and sun exposure during long summer rounds.

The hat features a hydrophobic exterior to repel water and sweat, a moisture-wicking lining and an antimicrobial sweatband to reduce odor. It’s made for walking golfers. There are 13 colors to choose from and it floats in case you lose it while fishing balls out of the water.

HYDAWAY 25oz Collapsible Water Bottle

Water is important to drink when you walk but it’s heavy. The HYDAWAY Collapsible Water Bottle is a great addition to your gear. It saves space and makes hydration easily accessible. It fits in golf push cart cup holders and it doesn’t leak.

LMNT Electrolyte packets

I started using the LMNT electrolyte packets for running but when I’m walking 18 holes in the summer, the packets help a lot. The flavors are good (watermelon and citrus are my favorites) and they help prevent fatigue and dehydration. If you sweat a lot and feel like water alone doesn’t cut it, I would try these.

If you want something already mixed for you, I recently tested the Course Record golf performance drinks and enjoyed them. (We Tried It: Course Record Energy Drink)

Shoes made for walking

The golf shoes you choose are always important but if you’re walking in the summer, the last thing you want is blisters and discomfort in your feet. The PAYNTR All Day SC was our best overall spikeless shoe of 2025 and when it comes to walking, you’ll have a hard time finding a better shoe. They are a great mix of grip, cushioning and breathability.
