Sink Flo M Mallet Putter – Key Takeaways

Smaller, lighter version of SIK Flo mallet Features SIK patented Descending Loft Technology Satin steel or matte black finish $449, available starting today

You can say the SIK Flo M mallet putter is the same thing as the company’s original Flo putter. Only less.

You could look at it and say, “Honey, I shrunk the Flo.”

Or you could go full Dr. Evil and sneer, “I shall call him … Mini Flo.”

You could do all of the above and you’d be left with the same thing: a smaller, lighter version of SIK’s original Flo mallet putter.

And based on how that putter performed in our 2020 Most Wanted mallet testing, that’s not a bad thing at all.

Let’s take a look.

SIK Flo M Mallet: Let’s Get Small

SIK made a splash in the putter world in 2020. The original Flo copped a top-3 spot in Most Wanted Mallet testing with outstanding performance from all three distances. That September, Bryson used SIK’s Pro model blade to win the COVID-delayed U.S. Open.

SIK’s claim to fame is its Descending Loft Technology. The face of every SIK putter (and, via licensing, every COBRA putter) features descending loft on the face. It’s four degrees at the top, descending in single-degree increments down to one degree at the bottom. The idea is whether you hit down on the ball, up on the ball or even with the ball, the ball will have the same 1.5-degree launch angle. That, in theory, leads to a more consistent roll and better distance control.

The new SIK Flo M mallet is 10-percent smaller and 70 grams lighter than the original Flo. SIK says that significant shrinkage was inspired by Tour feedback. The result is a putter with the MOI and overall forgiveness of a mallet but with the weight and feel of a blade.

According to SIK, the new Flo M mallet weighs around 360 grams, the same as Bryson’s SIK Pro model blade.

Little Bitty Pretty One?

If you’re into looks, the SIK Flo M mallet is, by any measure, an acquired taste. Our 2020 Most Wanted testers weren’t fans of the Flo’s appearance. Once they started rolling putts, however, they got over it pretty quickly. The SIK Flo provided the most consistent roll in the field and testers were impressed with both its feel and its balance.

It’s a fundamental truth, my friends: the more putts you sink, the better looking a putter gets.

Over the course of a couple of test rounds, we found the SIK Flo M to carry the same DNA as its larger, older brother. The feel and balance are very good. And while it may not seem like a big deal, the Descending Loft Technology is noticeable. Despite not being fitted (the sample was standard length and lie), the SIK Flo M mallet delivered spot-on distance control and was very stable throughout the stroke.

While SIK isn’t a pay-to-play company, it does have an emerging Tour presence. Bryson is the face of the company with nine wins with SIK in the bag. Additionally, Brendon Todd, Lanto Griffin and D.A. Points are also SIK winners. Other pros listed on SIK’s website include Kevin Na, Emiliano Grillo, Ryan Moore and David Duval.
