The top three performing brands of 2025

Based on consistency across all four categories and how often their irons ranked near the top, the following three brands delivered the strongest overall performance in 2025.

Srixon

Srixon was the most consistent brand across the entire test. They didn’t just place high in one category; they placed high in all of them. The ZXi7 won the Player’s category outright while the ZXi5 (Player’s Distance) and ZXi4 (Game-Improvement) both landed firmly inside the top tier of their categories. No other brand showed top-five performance in accuracy and forgiveness across this many iron types.

For golfers, this means Srixon’s 2025 lineup is as close to “no weak spots” as it gets. Whether you want control, stability or balanced performance, Srixon was one of the safest bets in this year’s test.

Callaway

Callaway’s 2025 lineup was built around ball speed. The Elyte HL tied for the top spot in Game-Improvement, the Apex Ai200 was one of the longest irons in the entire test and the Elyte X produced some of the highest ball-speed numbers in Super Game-Improvement. Across categories, Callaway irons consistently placed inside the top five for both distance and accuracy.

If you want irons that hit it farther without giving up too much control, Callaway was one of the undeniable winners of the 2025 test.

Mizuno

Mizuno delivered one of the most well-rounded iron performances of any company in 2025. The JPX 925 Hot Metal tied for best Game-Improvement iron, the Hot Metal Pro delivered top-end ball speed in Player’s Distance and the HL version produced strong forgiveness results in SGI.

The big takeaway with Mizuno is balance. They appeared in the top five for accuracy, distance and forgiveness across multiple categories, proving they can build irons for every type of golfer. If you’re hanging on to the concept that Mizuno is only for better players, you may want to think again.

Best iron brands for accuracy

Srixon led the field in accuracy, appearing in the top five more than any other brand. Callaway and Mizuno were close behind, each placing multiple irons near the top for directional consistency.

These brands appeared most frequently in the top five for forgiveness, meaning they held onto ball speed and accuracy on mishits better than the rest. If you want consistency in your game, these are the irons you’ll need.
