These 10 YouTube Golf Channels Are Losing Viewers

Yesterday, we took a look at which YouTube golf channels are growing.

Now it’s time for the opposite side of that equation. Which channels are going backwards?

There is a major caveat here in that many of these channels are still very successful. Their viewership numbers are formidable and their content is still worth watching in many ways.

However, something is holding them back from their previous baseline.

In most cases, the culprit is the increased competition of YouTube golf. There are a lot more high-profile channels now compared to five years ago. People only have some much time.

But in some situations, the channel quality has deteriorated.

Sorted by percentage decrease, here are the 10 YouTube golf channels that are losing the most viewers over the past 365 days (relative to the previous year).

Peter Finch

Views in the last 365 days: 27 million Percentage decrease: 2 percent

Just a slight decrease here for Finch, one of the more likable personalities in the YouTube golf space. I wouldn’t read too much into it. I think this is more attrition from competition as opposed to a content quality issue.

Danny Maude

Views in the last 365 days: 39 million Percentage decrease: 7 percent

There are a few channels on this list that used to have a monopoly in their respective corner of YouTube golf. Maude has always been one of the dominant instruction channels. With so much instruction available now, it’s hard to grow from his previous numbers.

Random Golf Club

Views in the last 365 days: 11 million Percentage decrease: 9 percent

The next two channels are niche offerings that are being hit by the YouTube algorithm because they are going for quality over quantity. Random Golf Club has some of the best production values among YouTube golf channels.

No Laying Up

Views in the last 365 days: 7 million Percentage decrease: 11 percent

Copy and paste from above. NLU has its core audience but there isn’t a need to chase views. Their goal is storytelling and serving their own fans.

Good Good

Views in the last 365 days: 118 million Percentage decrease: 13 percent

Good Good remains one of the goliaths of YouTube golf—and the brand is way more than a YouTube golf channel at this point—but viewership is down. They were one of the only channels doing match and/or challenge videos. Now they are losing out to Grant Horvat, Bryson DeChambeau and others.

PGA Tour

Views in the last 365 days: 249 million Percentage decrease: 23 percent

While the Tour isn’t a traditional YouTube golf player, it’s worth noting that they have really struggled to retain viewership. Their overall numbers are high because of a massive database of evergreen videos but the lack of creative original content is concerning.

Rick Shiels

Views in the last 365 days: 91 million Percentage decrease: 26 percent

The move to LIV hasn’t panned out so far for Shiels. I think this might be a case of fatigue with Shiels given how long he has been around. At least LIV Duels has been successful.

BustaJack

Views in the last 365 days: 8 million Percentage decrease: 34 percent

BustaJack is a smaller match-based channel that doesn’t have anywhere near the production quality as others. It’s still a decent channel but the market is in a tough spot for them.

GM Golf

Views in the last 365 days: 39 million Percentage decrease: 35 percent

The activity level on the channel has gone down but it’s still very solid content that is watched at a consistent clip. I tend to like Garrett Clark in this format more than most of Good Good’s videos.

Micah Morris

Views in the last 365 days: 9 million Percentage decrease: 50 percent

While Horvat has exploded in popularity after leaving Good Good, Morris hasn’t gained much traction and continues to lose viewers.
