This Is The Biggest YouTube Golf Event We’ve Ever Seen

You may have noticed that we’re big fans of YouTube golf.

We like talking about our favorite channels and creators. We like talking about the Creator Classic. We like being entertained by Bryson hitting golf balls over his house.

You get the idea.

Well, as far as YouTube golf events go, this newest tournament is the biggest we’ve ever seen.

Announcing the Internet Invitational

On Aug. 12-16, a few dozen of the top creators, personalities, athletes and celebrities will be coming together to compete in a tournament with “at least $1 million” being awarded. It’s uncertain who will be competing but you can plan on the usual suspects being involved.

What we do know is that the event is being bankrolled by Dave Portnoy and Barstool Sports in conjunction with Bob Does Sports. The event will be held at Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, Mo.

Portnoy promised a big YouTube golf event last year.

“People probably thought I forgot about it. Well, I didn’t,” Portnoy said in a video announcing the tournament. “I reached out to different people. I said, ‘Get me Fat Perez. Get me Robby Berger. Get me Joey Coldcuts. Get me these guys.’ And I did. So Barstool, Bob Does Sports, have combined forces. And Aug. 12 to Aug. 16, you are going to see the Internet Invitational, invite-only at Big Cedar Lodge, the Ozarks, Missouri. One of the great golf resort destinations in the world. We will be there.”

Portnoy didn’t give many details, other than that he expects about 30 to 60 contestants.

And don’t expect this to be a traditional golf tournament in terms of atmosphere.

“By the way, this isn’t your mother’s golf tournament. We’re not going to be quiet in a thing like this,” he said. “We want bad shots. We want you to feel the pressure. It’s going to be 30 to 50 to 60 of the most well-known golfers, celebrity athletes, internet people with big money, big stakes, and us in your ear chirping.”

It will be interesting to see the streaming options available for this as I’m guessing the tournament will be shown live.

What this means for YouTube golf

We’re seeing an explosion of events tailored for YouTube golfers.

Whether it’s the expanded Creator Classic series, the LIV “Duels Miami” event for $250,000 or other collaboration-based events, we’re getting a lot of tournaments for YouTube golfers.

But this tournament looks to be the largest field and the largest prize pool.

Also, regardless of your feelings about Barstool, having their name on this event definitely increases exposure several times over.

I would expect this to be a huge success. And we’re destined to have many YouTube golf tournaments in the future that look similar to this one.

Soon there will be a whole professional tour of YouTube golfers—people who play for money and are entertaining while they do it.

What do you think about that?
