Unless you’re involved in the hockey or dance world, GRIT may be a brand you’ve never heard of. I fell squarely into this category and therefor was surprised to see a golf cart bag coming from a brand unknown to me.
Who is GRIT, anyways?
Looks, design and function
“Utilitarian” was the first word that came to mind when I saw the Golf Tower 2.0. It has an industrial, rugged look that is built to hold up to whatever may be thrown its way. The square design helps it stand out in a sea of cylindrical bags. One nagging problem with traditional golf bags is the twisting and rotating once strapped onto the back of the cart. Through testing the Golf Tower 2.0, I can say that it does a better job of staying squarely in place. It’s different – but in a good way. The more I look at the square design, the more I like it.
Convenient access is key
The only slight drawback to this layout is that it does lend itself to being top-heavy. This bag is meant to stay secured on a driving or push cart. When I pulled it out of my truck in the parking lot at the course, I had to be very intentional about setting it down. It was a bit unsteady, wanting to tip over if not on an even surface. This can happen with any and all cart bags, though, so take that for what you will.
Optimized, organized storage
The name of the game with the Golf Tower 2.0 is easy access to your gear and this bag delivers. A centrally located, forward-facing locker-style compartment has room for everything you need on the course. Its shelving system keeps everything organized and highly visible. This is another feature I have really enjoyed as it makes finding my gear quick and simple. The apparel pocket, located on the front of the bag, gives me pause. Access while attached to the cart is slightly awkward. Getting caught in a downpour could mean getting a bit wet while trying to get your rain gear out.
This bag also features a 14-way top with full-length dividers. You either love a 14-way top or hate it and I fall into the camp of loving it. I’ve been known to forget a wedge greenside at time or two and seeing that I have an empty slot before taking off to the next tee is a great reminder. Two handles on either side of the top make loading the bag onto a cart a breeze. Speaking of handles, an integrated handle on the base of this bag is great for getting it in and out of vehicles.
Other features
The Golf Tower 2.0 utilizes a single shoulder strap that can be attached to both sides of the bag. This allows for the user to choose on which side they want to carry it. Switching the strap to either side is very simple and a hip pad offers added comfort. There is a cooler pocket located at the bottom that holds up to five 12-ounce cans. The drain prevents water build-up in the pocket and also keeps the rest of your gear dry.
