You Must Be THIS Tall To Buy These Golf Clothes

You Must Be THIS Tall To Buy These Golf Clothes

Here’s something to add to my never-ending and ever-expanding List of Things I Didn’t Know:

Shorter people often struggle to find clothing that fits well off the rack.

At just under 5’11”, I honestly did not know that.

According to that dauntless source of knowledge known as the worldwide web, standard sizing assumes people of average height or taller. That can lead to all kinds of challenges for the shorter of those among us, particularly men. Pants that are too long, shirts with sleeves that extend past the wrists or torsos that bunch up and jackets that can swallow up smaller frames are common frustrations.

The fashion world, however, appears to be catching on. Companies such as Peter Manning, Ash & Erie and Under 5’10” are specializing in casual wear for shorter guys. Nicholas James, however, is focusing on premium apparel for male golfers 5’9” and under.

The first golf brand for short guys

Nicholas James is a company, not a guy. Its founder, Nick Parker (I’ll bet $50 his middle name is James), says his company is the first golf and lifestyle brand designed specifically for short guys.

Shorter men, Parker believes, have been underserved in terms of fashion, specifically golf fashion.

“Off-the-rack clothes are always too long or boxy,” says Parker. “I created Nicholas James golf apparel to give guys like me the same level of style and craftsmanship, tailored to our frame.”

For the record, Parker is 5’6″.

Try Nicholas James golf apparel before you buy

The Nicholas James golf apparel line features pretty much what you’d expect. It includes performance polos, five-pocket pants, quarter-zips and cashmere crewneck sweaters. It’s not a broad line but Parker does offer something fairly unique.

A “Try Before You Buy” program.

You can order up to five pieces to try on at home. You keep and pay for the ones you want and send the rest back.

Additionally, the company offers $25 off your first order if you join its loyalty program/mailing list. Because Parker does have a sense of humor, he calls it (no lie) The Shortlist.
