2024 Titleist AVX Golf Balls

Let’s get right to it.

The Titleist AVX golf ball is the company’s low-flight, low-spin, soft-feel with a urethane cover offering.

Simple. Kinda.

Now entering its fourth generation, AVX–the ball that originally launched as a Sunbelt-only fall release–has developed a loyal following, becoming a staple of the Titleist lineup.

In what’s sort of been the theme of the AVX since day one, it’s not quite a Pro V1 but it has carved out a nice niche within the Titleist universe.

Cleveland CBX 4 ZipCore Wedges

The new Cleveland CBX 4 ZipCore wedges are the fourth generation of a Cleveland grand experiment based on a bold statement.

The bold statement is simple: The 84 percent of you who play cavity-back game-improvement irons are probably playing the wrong wedges.

The grand experiment: Cleveland is betting you’d rather play the right ones.

And those right ones, according to Cleveland (and, if you’ve been paying attention, a growing number of OEMS), are the cavity-back game-improvement CBX 4 ZipCores.

This latest installment of the CBX family includes all of Cleveland’s latest wedge technologies along with refined shaping designed to flow seamlessly with Cleveland’s new ZipCore XL irons. But perhaps the biggest improvement is probably the smallest to the eye but could be a major contributor to any golfer’s sanity.

Our favorite budget golf courses across the United States

Golf is an increasingly expensive sport, especially when it comes to green fees.

There are some courses that have gotten out of control, charging consumers astronomical rates. In a lot of cases, the experience of playing on these layouts doesn’t merit the exorbitant cost.

Fortunately, there are still great courses available for play at a reasonable price point. Not all of them have the hype or history to match their more expensive competitors but they can be every bit as worthy—in some cases, we even prefer playing the “cheaper” layouts.

Here are 15 of our favorite “don’t break the bank” golf courses across the United States. Some of these courses are on the higher end of the “low-budget” definition; some are just fun, affordable tracks you have probably never heard of unless you are a local.

The rates below are based on guest adults playing 18 holes but all of the courses have various discounts for local residents, juniors, seniors or others. Rates may not include a cart. Click on each link for further information.

Stop Muffing Your Chip Shots

Too many chip shots are hit thin or fat because you are not able to control your wrist lag and release on these short chip shots (up to 30 yards).  Wouldn’t it be great if you could guarantee a perfect chip shot every time you try one on the course?  Even GOLFPASS is demonstrating a single handed version of what I am about to share with you.

Chip shots often fail because you are trying to release your wrist lag at the exact bottom of your swing but your wrists, knees and spine may be bent or open at the point of impact.  A normal swing is often completed with some up and down motion in your shoulders and knees which also change the distance to your ball.  Timing is critical for this type of swing and that’s why you muff so many chips shots.

There is only 1 way to guarantee a perfect chip shot.  You need to setup and swing with a straight leading arm & wrist and don’t move your shoulders up or down.  You are only creating power with the rotation of your shoulders and pendulum swing like a putt.  You can adjust the distance of your shot by extending your backswing and choosing any of your irons depending on the height and distance of your shot.

1/ Setup with your feet about 10 inches apart and your leading foot flared open 45 degrees.

2/ Slide your leading hand down on your grip so that your arm is stretched out and directly in line with your club (with no forward lean).  The soul of your chosen club may rest on the toe or the flat base (your preference)

Just Dropped: TaylorMade Qi10 Designer Series Drivers

Designer shoes are often seen as a status symbol of sorts. Why? Products labeled as “designer” connote an essence of elegance and luxury. In short, if you’re wearing designer ANYTHING, it means you’re somebody (or you like to think you’re somebody)

Forget the shoes, though. This is a golf site, after all. I’m here to answer the question I know you’ve been asking (okay, not really.) What about a designer driver? Is there even such a thing?

There is now. Introducing the TaylorMade Qi10 and Qi10 Max Designer Series Drivers. Both the Qi10 and Qi10 Max Drivers have been given a slight cosmetic tweak in the name of creativity.

TaylorMade Qi10 Designer Series Drivers

jQuery( document ).ready( function( $ ) { var slides = $( '#mgs_gallery_65a6fa538258f .mgs-gallery-images .mgs-gallery-image' ).length; if ( slides 6 ) { slides = 6; } $( '#mgs_gallery_65a6fa538258f .mgs-gallery-images' ).slick( { slidesToShow: 1, slidesToScroll: 1, fade: true, prevArrow: '', nextArrow: '', asNavFor: '#mgs_gallery_65a6fa538258f .mgs-gallery-thumbs', swipe: false, mobileFirst: true, } ); $( '#mgs_gallery_65a6fa538258f .mgs-gallery-thumbs' ).slick( { slidesToShow: ( slides - 1 ), //less than number of slides, so it always shows infinite scroll (bugfix) slidesToScroll: 1, arrows: false, asNavFor: '#mgs_gallery_65a6fa538258f .mgs-gallery-images', centerMode: true, focusOnSelect: true, infinite: true, mobileFirst: true, responsive: [ { breakpoint: 1023, settings: { slidesToShow: 3, }, }, { breakpoint: 600, settings: { slidesToShow: 1, }, }, ], } ); $( '#mgs_gallery_65a6fa538258f' ).magnificPopup( { delegate: '.mgs-gallery-trigger', type: 'image', gallery: { enabled: true, arrowMarkup: '', }, } ); } );

Nothing gets golfers going like a blackout color scheme. TaylorMade has been known to use bright colors at times (see Stealth, Sim, etc) but they almost always offer a blacked-out variant as an option for those that want something a little more … well … stealthy.

I must say, the Black Out Qi10 Designer Series Driver is about a sexy as a driver can be. But, the Ruby Red variant is also very appealing to the eye. Basically, what I’m saying is that if had either of these beauties (yes, they’re offered in RH and LH), I wouldn’t complain.

WITB with Sony Open Champ Grayson Murray

Just months after getting his PGA Tour card back, Grayson Murray has already found the winner’s circle.

Murray, a 30-year-old journeyman from Raleigh, N.C., won early in his tour career back at the 2017 Barbasol Championship but saw his performance crater in the years that followed. He regained confidence in 2023 with two victories on the Korn Ferry Tour, securing full PGA Tour membership for 2024.

It didn’t take long for him to find success in 2024. Murray won the Sony Open yesterday in a three-man playoff over Keegan Bradley and Byeong Hun An. The victory puts him up to No. 46 in the Official World Golf Ranking, the best mark of his career. Murray is now exempt into the Masters, PGA Championship and all the remaining signature events on tour for the rest of the season.

Here is Murray’s WITB from his victory:

Driver: Mizuno ST-X 230 (10.5 degrees)
Shaft: UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X White 7F5
