COBRA KING Black Edition TOUR and CB/MB Irons

The new COBRA KING Black Edition irons signal the official beginning of the end for COBRA’s current KING TOUR and CB/MB irons.

That’s not as ominous as it sounds.

For the past decade, OEMs on a two-year-plus life cycle have been giving their irons a final-year boost by offering them in black. It’s an iron set’s rite of passage. You’ve done your job so it’s time for a little cosmetic facelift to jump-start sales until your replacement is ready.

Which, if history is any guide, should be anytime between this January and next fall. We’re leaning toward the fall.

So, yeah, on the one hand, it’s a blatant cash grab. On the other hand, they almost uniformly look really, really cool.

This Rangefinder is Unique!

There is a lot of cool gear in the golf equipment world that doesn’t always fit neatly into Most Wanted Tests or Buyer’s Guides. You still want to know how it performs. In our We Tried It series, we put gear to the test and let you know if it works as advertised.

What we tried:

The Canon Powershot Rangefinder. We’ve tested plenty of Nikon rangefinders so it was finally time to add another famous name to the mix.

Who tried it:

Connor. Director of Content and resident sneakerhead. We shoot on Canon cameras at the office so when I found out Canon had a rangefinder, I had to give it a whirl. Hopefully, it can make my game look better than it actually is (that’s what a camera is good for, right?)

What makes the Powershot unique?

I’ve tested more than 25 rangefinders and the Canon Powershot has one trick no other can match: it can capture photo and video. Fitting, coming from a camera company. I’ve yet to see another rangefinder that offers this functionality.

Even with the added functionality, the rangefinder must still function as a solid rangefinder in order to make my bag. How did the Powershot fare?

October Staff Picks: Gear We Love This Month

Our expert staff is constantly churning through and testing new golf products. Sometimes, we find something that we really gravitate towards but it doesn’t always fit neatly into an article, review or buyer’s guide. Staff Picks is a no-frills way for our staff to share the products that they love on a monthly basis. From shoes to coolers and everything in between, these items, for one reason or another, really stood out to our staff this month.

Adam Beach: L.A.B. DF.3

“It’s too easy. To be this bad at putting and no longer be bad at putting. You would buy DF3 too.”

Connor Lindeman: UNRL Concourse Pants

“The stretchiest golf pants I’ve ever worn. Period. They move with you, not against you. As someone who hates pants, these golf pants are (almost) as good as shorts.”

Tony Covey: Vokey Wedgeworks V Grind

“It’s a T Grind with more bounce. It’s the ultimate fall golf wedge.”

Ian Welke: Redvanly Larkin Hoodie

“Form fitting yet stretchy. Go to casual or golf fall hoodie. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more comfortable, casual golf hoodie out there. I can’t stop wearing this thing.”

Trick Golf Ball Company Farting Golf Ball

If you thought fart jokes were reserved for middle-school boys, think again. For some reason, the concept extends well into the adult years on the golf course. The Trick Golf Ball Company Farting Golf Ball makes a farting sound when it’s hit.

You’ll have to plan how to use this one to get the most reaction from the group.

4 Tips to Extend the Lifespan of Your Golf Shoes

Finding a great pair of golf shoes isn’t always easy. So when you do, it’s important to do everything you can to keep them around for a while. Taking care of your golf shoes will make them last longer. Here are four tips to extend the lifespan of your golf shoes.

Wear your golf shoes only on the course

This may sound obvious but wearing golf shoes off the course has become increasingly popular with the introduction of spikeless shoes. Golfers find their spikeless golf shoes so easy and comfortable that they also wear them as casual shoes.

Pavement and hard surfaces wear the soles down faster. Even if your golf shoes feel as easy to wear as your sneakers, they were made with specific materials to help improve traction and stability when you play.

If you want that to last, use your golf shoes just for golf!

Rotate between multiple pairs

Consider rotating between two or more pairs of golf shoes if you can. Allowing golf shoes, specifically leather ones, to rest and fully recover after a round of golf can help decrease the amount of wear and tear.
