Rory McIlroy applauded tennis star Novak Djokovic for his "handling" of boisterous spectators during Tuesday night's win at the US Open, an approach McIlroy plans to follow at the Ryder Cup later this month at Bethpage in New York.
A new entry on the USGA conforming ball list suggests that Tour Edge is gearing up to join basically everybody else in selling a golf ball … or at least trying to.
Predictably, I suppose, the upcoming ball is called the Tour Edge Exotics.
While USGA listings are never as detailed as we could hope, here’s what it shows.
A couple of details stand out here. First, this isn’t the Tour Edge logo we’re used to seeing and while the new ball doesn’t appear on the Tour Edge website, the updated logo is featured throughout. It’s hard to say what that means as a whole. Whether it’s just an effort to freshen things up a bit or a full-scale rebranding effort remains to be seen.
Whatever the reason, hopefully it will go better for Tour Edge than it did for Cracker Barrel.

When we talk about value in golf equipment and technology, rangefinders can’t be left out of the conversation. Every golfer needs a yardage, whether that comes from a $199 device or a $599 premium model. The Bushnell Pro X3+LINK, recently named the Best Golf Rangefinder of 2025, delivers tour-level precision and innovation, but it’s not the right choice for everyone. In this guide, we’ll break down what you get with the X3+LINK, who should consider upgrading and who might be better off sticking with their current rangefinder.
The Pro X3+LINK takes Bushnell’s proven Pro X3 platform and layers in some new technology.
LINK-Enabled Technology: By connecting your Foresight Sports or Bushnell launch monitor, the rangefinder displays personalized club recommendations based on your stock yardages.Wind speed and direction: Paired with the Bushnell Golf app, the X3+ LINK breaks wind into simple “help or hurt” feedback and left/right influence.Slope with elements: Bushnell’s patented slope calculation now factors in temperature, barometric pressure and your home elevation for the most precise adjustments yet.Dual display technology: Toggle between bright red or crisp black display depending on lighting conditions.Tour-level durability: The IPX7 waterproof, rubber-armored metal housing makes it one of the toughest rangefinders available. These updates build on Bushnell’s staples including things like PinSeeker with JOLT, 7x magnification and the BITE magnetic cart mount, all of which you’ll find in the Pro X3+LINK.
In our 2025 Best Rangefinder Test, the Pro X3+ LINK earned a 9.8 score and was named Best Overall. Testers praised its crystal-clear optics and repeatable accuracy from every angle and distance. One tester summed it up simply: “It’s a Bushnell. What do you expect?”
The only consistent drawback was weight. At 12 ounces, it’s heavier than most competitors and some testers found the magnet less reliable on rough cart rides due to the extra weight. When it came to accuracy and features, it led the field without question.

After taking a look at some PGA Tour stars who had disappointing 2025 campaigns, we are now heading into Labor Day weekend with a sunnier disposition.
These are the players who came alive this year. They either had career-best seasons or revitalized their game after previous struggles.
A theme? So many of these guys are later in their careers.
Sometimes it takes time to put everything together.
While it was another quiet year for many of golf’s established stars, the players on this list moved towards their own stardom.

In my 20-plus years of coaching golf, I still see the same thing happen over and over again. Player hits a gorgeous drive straight down the middle. Ball finds the one divot on the entire fairway. They stare at it like it’s radioactive.
“Can’t touch it, right coach?”
Nope. Wrong again.
This happens constantly. Golfers are paralyzed by rules they don’t actually understand. They think the USGA sits around dreaming up ways to punish weekend hackers. So they’ll hack out of impossible lies rather than take perfectly legal relief. If you decide your ball is unplayable (anywhere on the course except a penalty area), you must take one penalty stroke under Rule 19.2 — but often, that decision will save you in the long run.
How about a situation where you can move or have your ball move without penalty? Well, they exist, and they’re far more common than most players realize.

My favorite hat brand just dropped a new collection of golf-inspired goodies … and it’s pretty darn sweet.
Some might say, “peachy”.
HAHA I’ll see myself out.
But seriously, melin has been grinding on their Links collection this year and put out some absolute bangers. The latest drop, draped in pastel peach and sky blue, is perfect for scrambling around the local muni at sunset, looking for the 12 balls you lost earlier in the day.
As with every melin hat, these bad boys are packed with tech. They’re antimicrobial, basically sweat-resistant and they even float in water (just in case you dive after that Ksig you just blasted into the drink).
