First Look: Cobalt Q-4 Slope Rangefinder

Last we heard from direct-to-consumer golf brand Cobalt, their Q-6 rangefinder had just pulled off an admirable dark-horse finish in our Best Golf Rangefinder testing. Now, the Wyoming-based company seeks to challenge the notion that a top-performing golf rangefinder must have a top-shelf price.

Introducing the Cobalt Q-4 Slope—the budget-friendly addition to Cobalt’s lineup of premium performance golf rangefinders.

Cobalt Q-4: Slope Functionality

Budget golf rangefinders often have to make compromises. This shortcoming can rear its head in many ways. For example, the lack of slope functionality can be detrimental to your game.

Luckily, the Cobalt Q-4 offers the same slope functionality as its big brother, the Q-6 Slope. Of course, the slope function can be turned on and off with the push of a button, making it completely legal for tournament use when required.

Amazon Finds: Precision Golf Ball Marking Kit

The Problem: There are a million different ways to mark your golf ball: initials, dots, lines and whatever else you can think of. Having the proper markings on a golf ball can really help your game, especially when it comes to putting and off the tee. Some golf balls come with lines as part of their design but these might not be your personal preference.

The Solution: Precision Golf Ball Markers with alignment aids. These work on any golf ball and allow you to customize your golf ball with the markings you prefer in an effort to improve your game on the green and off the tee. With options from straight lines, swing path arrows and cross lines, you can ensure your ball has all the appropriate markings in the colors you prefer.

How I Found It: I have been given these in the past and they have always gotten lost or thrown out. After going through some struggles on the course, I went to find one, figuring I should finally take the time to put the proper lines on my golf ball. With a couple clicks on the keyboard, I was able to get a set from Amazon in less than 24 hours.

I should note that when searching for these, there were a lot of different results, options and brands. This set had good reviews from more than 600 customers, so it seemed like the best choice for less than $15.

How it worked (and didn’t): The Precision Golf Ball Marking Kit is pretty simple. I got four golf ball clamps with marking presets and four markers (black, blue, red, green).
