The new PING HOVI PLD putter just released. Will it make you play more like Viktor Hovland? That we can’t guarantee, but it is a good looking putter. Here’s everything you need to know about this limited edition release.
PING thinks their staffer Viktor Hovland had a season worth commemorating with the “Hovi” Signature PLD Limited DS72.
Of all of the things that have been commemorated with putters, making one to celebrate Hovland’s accomplishments this year seems justified.
Hovland’s game got stronger and stronger as the year went on. He played like a giant boulder rolling down a hill. You may not have noticed it moving at first but, by the time it got to the bottom of the hill, there was nothing that was going to stop its momentum.
I truly enjoyed watching Hovland separate himself from the pack in the FedEx Cup playoffs. He was in total command of his game. That run alone would be a reason for celebration. When he chipped in from the green on his first Ryder Cup hole, I knew that the U.S. team was in trouble.
The latest update to the Bushnell Launch Pro is a simple case of addition by subtraction. That is tot say that Bushnell is dropping the price by $1,500 (from $3,499 to $1,999) but the modified configuration is equipped with “ball only” data. More on that in a bit.
We don’t need to dig up any old Econ 101 notebooks to understand that, for some golfers, a less-expensive entry point is what makes a purchase viable and allows a company in a competitive market to acquire a new customer.
The salient question becomes, “For $ 1,500 less out of pocket, what exactly am I giving up?”
Let’s explore.
Let’s start with the easy stuff. The foundational technology of the new Bushnell Launch Pro configuration is the same model we tested recently and named the “Best Golf Launch Monitor” of 2023. For that matter, the only difference between the Bushnell Launch Pro (in any configuration) and the pricier Foresight GC3 is the payment structure and access to various software packages.

Are you familiar with Sacks Parente Putters? If not, don’t worry—you’re not alone. While the brand may not be the most well known (yet!), they are quickly gaining an avid fan base for their unique putters. Today we’re looking for readers who want to test and review a Sacks Parente Putter.
At MyGolfSpy Forum, we’ve made it a goal for 2023 to shine a spotlight on emerging and lesser-known brands in the golfing world. We believe it’s crucial to give these companies exposure while providing our members with opportunities to test, experience and review products they might never have considered.
Sacks Parente is a putter manufacturer renowned for their patented Ultra Low Balance Point technology (ULBP) which they claim can naturally enhance your putting stroke. Founded by Steve Sacks, a golf club design and manufacturing pioneer, and Rich Parente, an original co-founder of Callaway, the concept of their ULBP technology was born in 2011. However, it wasn’t until 2018 that Sacks Parente officially came into existence.
Sacks Parente offers an extensive array of golf putter. Whether you favor mallet or blade putters, there’s a design that’s bound to catch your eye. What sets Sacks Parente apart is matching Ultra-Low Balance Point putter shafts and grips with their putters. They claim these components work harmoniously to help you sink more putts. With a growing presence on the PGA TOUR Champions, they’re steadily gaining recognition.
Have we sparked your curiosity about testing and reviewing one of Sacks Parente’s putters?

Phigolf 2. A golf simulation sensor and swing stick that connects to a free mobile app. Phigolf 2 has nearly 3,000 reviews on Amazon and it reminded me so much of the Nintendo Wii (if you know, you know) that it was a no-brainer to give this thing a go.
Connor. Director of Soft Goods Testing and resident sneakerhead. I believe golf is better with a pair of cool shoes and comfortable joggers. I grew up playing Tiger Woods Golf and Wii Sports Golf so I’ve been very curious whether a “video game” can really help you get better at golf.
For years, golf simulation and golf simulators have been largely out of reach for anyone not willing to spend thousands of dollars. Phigolf (distributed by GolfBuddy) aims to change the notion that golf simulators are unattainable for most of us
For a price that’s barely 10 percent the cost of leading personal launch monitors, does the Phigolf 2 merit a look for your winter off-season or a fun night at home with the kids?
MyGolfSpy Experiences has said it before. The best golf buddy trip is the next one. But have you ever thought about the first one?
It’s the year 1557 in Scotland. Two shepherds, Hamish and Seamus, were rolling rocks into rabbit holes in their regular field. And they’re getting bored.
“Laddie, wouldn’t it be grand to head over to McTavish’s field?” asked Hamish. “We could knock some rocks into his rabbit holes.”
“Aye,” replied Seamus. “Grand it would be.”
And that, dear readers, is how the golf buddy trip was born.
When you know you are not a beginner and you also know you are far from a scratch player, what does that make you? The concept of the “mid-handicapper” seems to be generally accepted by golfers but what is the actual handicap index range it defines?
A mid-handicap golfer has a handicap index of between 10 and 20. To confuse the issue, there are also categories for a “lower mid-handicap” and a “higher mid-handicap” golfer.
In general, a mid-handicapper typically shoots between 80 and 94 for 18 holes.
Let’s face it: there is a difference between shooting 80 and shooting 94. We need a few categories for mid-handicappers.
Lower Mid-Handicap: 10-13 indexMid Mid-Handicap: 14-17Higher Mid-Handicap: 18-20A mid handicap golfer makes more bogeys than they do birdies and pars. If you consider the average round for a mid-handicapper to be an 87, that’s about 15 over par.
