Callaway Chrome Tour Area 51: The Truth Is Out There (And It’s On Your Golf Ball)
Callaway’s latest limited-edition Chrome Tour collection takes golfers where no golf ball has gone before – straight into America’s most mysterious military installation. The Chrome Tour Area 51 collection combines alien encounters with Tour-level performance, because … Well, honestly, I have no idea, but let’s just go with it.
Inspired by the secrecy, speculation and pop culture legacy of the world’s most famous classified site, the collection features four designs that cover all your UFO needs (assuming you have UFO needs).
The lineup
Aliens

The classic little green men design that every alien-themed collection needs. Perfect for golfers who’ve always suspected their slice was caused by extraterrestrial interference. When you inevitably lose this ball in the woods, you can tell your playing partners it was probably abducted for anal probing – which, coincidentally, is how most of us feel after a bad round anyway.
Cactus

A nod to the Nevada desert landscape surrounding the actual Area 51 facility. This design is perfect for golfers who thrive in hostile conditions or those whose games have more sharp edges than smooth. The desert flora print might not help you find your ball any faster, but at least you’ll look authentic while wandering through the wasteland of your scorecard.
Area 51 sign

The iconic warning sign that tells unauthorized personnel to stay away. Coincidentally perfect for marking your ball when you want your playing partners to keep their distance from your putting line. The government may not want you near the base but they can’t stop you from putting it on your golf ball.
Flying saucers

For players who prefer their UFOs airborne and their golf balls identifiable from the next fairway over. The saucer design is ideal for golfers whose approach shots tend to hover mysteriously before crashing in the bunker. At least now you’ll have a thematically appropriate excuse.
The usual business
As with most of Callaway’s limited releases this season, the Area 51 collection features the standard Chrome Tour. While we appreciate the business logic, it would be nice to see Callaway occasionally mix in a Chrome Tour X or Chrome Tour Triple Diamond for these special drops. Sales figures drive these decisions but if you want golfers to believe that one of your lesser-selling ball offers otherworldly performance, you could have started here.

The bottom line
Will alien-themed golf balls improve your game? Absolutely not. But when the mothership finally lands on the 18th green and the aliens demand to know who’s responsible for all those divots, you’ll be the only golfer in your group with balls that suggest you come in peace. That’s got to count for something in intergalactic diplomacy.
With the Chrome Tour Area 51 collection, the truth isn’t just out there – it’s printed on your golf ball.
