Can’t Afford a Vessel? These new Golf Bags Might Do The Trick
In golf, as in any industry, you have innovators and trend-setters, and then you have trend-followers and capitalizers.
Today’s launch by Tour Edge of its new Xtreme Lux golf bags is most definitely the latter. That, my friends, is a good thing for consumers.
The Xtreme Lux series is Tour Edge’s entry into the luxury, synthetic leather golf bag market. Tour Edge itself calls the Xtreme Lux a “premium blend of cutting-edge features and sleek, minimalist design.” That certainly fits the definition of a luxury, synthetic leather golf bag.
The fact that you can get either the stand or cart bag version for under $200 (barely) makes it a Tour Edge.

Affordable luxury?
“The Lux line represents the most luxurious bag designs we’ve ever produced,” says Tour Edge founder and CEO David Glod. “Lux bags are designed for maximum convenience, comfort and style while remaining among the lights in their class.”
It can be argued (convincingly, I might add) that Vessel created the luxury golf bag market. However, once a high-end presence establishes a market, Business 101 declares in clear language that’s underlined in a bold, italic font that it’s open season for lower-priced competitors to join the fray.

Everyone from Titleist to Ben Hogan to direct-to-consumer brands offers synthetic leather bags. Tour Edge, however, appears to be the only mainstream OEM coming in at a $199.99 price point. Sub 70’s $175 staff bag blowout aside, the new Tour Edge Xtreme Lux might be one of the best golf bag deals going right now.
Cart or stand? Take your pick
The Tour Edge Xtreme Lux line features both a cart bag and a stand bag. Both feature high-quality and water-resistant synthetic leather with enhanced stitching and stylish accents befitting the luxury bag category.

Additionally, both the cart and stand bags have a nearly identical feature set, including what Tour Edge is calling a five-way “Plush-Feel Top.” It includes two full-length dividers, a putter well and an integrated top cuff handle for easy lifting. Both also include a cart strap pass-through, something no bag, luxury or not, should be without.
There are also nine – count ‘em – nine external pockets.
Of those nine pockets, Tour Edge says five of them are waterproof. The golf ball compartment and smaller rangefinder pocket are both magnetic for quick access. Additionally, the cart bag includes two insulated cooler sleeves. The stand bag trades one of those insulated sleeves for a cell phone pocket.

Tour Edge Xtreme Lux golf bags: Colors, price and availability
Tour Edge golf bags have traditionally represented solid value. Its feature-rich Xtreme 5.0 stand and cart bags sell for $129.99. The stunning Tour Edge premier staff and staff-stand bags go for $399.99 and $349.99, respectively. The only downside (which is purely subjective, mind you), is that they’re all, uhhh, boldly branded. If you don’t play Tour Edge, the branding might not appeal to you.

The Tour Edge Xtreme Lux, however, features branding so subtle that you could miss it altogether. Tour Edge is also offering you several matte color options. The Xtreme Lux is available in black, black/white, dark gray, light gray and navy blue.
The Tour Edge Xtreme Lux cart and stand bags retail for $199.99. They’re available now at retailers and online.
