A few weeks ago, we asked you to take our annual golf ball survey. We asked you about your preferences, buying habits and how likely you are to recommend brands to your friends. Your feedback helps us better understand your perceptions as well as trends in the market.

More than 10,00 (10,680) of you completed our survey. Here are some of the more interesting results.

What Are Your Golf Buying Habits?

We know from the survey that the majority of our readers play between 26 and 55 rounds of golf annually (26-40 was listed most often). What does that rate of play translate to as far as golf ball purchases are concerned?

The highest percentage of you buy five to six dozen balls annually.Perhaps this is why when brands give away “a year’s supply of golf balls”, it’s typically six dozen.I’d wager that those of you buying fewer than four dozen balls are playing a bit less, while I’m envious of those of you who play enough golf to need at least seven dozen (though I’ve had weekends where I’ve gone through nearly that many).

Jon Rahm probably should have won. But he didn't. Instead, Patrick Cantlay walked away with the victory as the U.S. Open looms with plenty of questions.

PuttOUT’s Dominance

As the game within the game, putting aids are, as the old saying goes, “ten a penny.” But very few cut through like the original PuttOUT did, selling more than 400,000 units and still counting. Recently upgraded to the Premium Pressure Putt Trainer, the simple design was tricky to master but gives plenty of feedback. PuttOUT launched its original mat three years ago, a product they designed after requests from consumers for a mat to complement the Putt Trainer. At eight feet long with markings at six feet,  it’s not huge but enough to be able to vary a practice session. Now rebranded as the Medium Mat, it’s available in three colors.

Let’s start with a bit of housekeeping on the mat range before going into specific details about the new models.

All the PuttOUT mats run at 10 on the Stimpmeter. That’s swift but not too slick, with enough pace to groove a smooth stroke.

Secondly, the mats are designed to stay flat. That seems obvious but too many putting mats can eventually look like creased, dog-eared dollar bills. And at five millimeters, they are designed to be thick enough to mask any imperfections from the floor beneath the mat.

Yuka Saso will enter the weekend at the U.S. Women's Open with a 1-shot lead. Fellow teen Megha Ganne, an amateur, is 2 back of Saso. Defending champion A Lim Kim and Michelle Wie West were among the notables to miss the cut.

Patrick Cantlay ran off three straight birdies to close out a 5-under 67 and the lead Friday in the rain-delayed Memorial.

Bryson DeChambeau was hit with numerous taunts of "Go Brooks" or "Brooksie" Friday at the Memorial as his feud with Brooks Koepka continued.

Thongchai Jaidee closed with a birdie on the par-3 ninth for a 7-under 65 and a one-stroke lead Friday in the PGA Tour Champions' Principal Charity Classic.

Today, we get to see the final members of the PXG Battle Ready putter line. These four putters complete one of the most comprehensive lines of putters launched this season. With this release, the model number jumps to nine. Nine different, seriously different, head designs. Some of these shapes ape the classics but others are pure PXG designs. But before we get to the new heads, let’s rehash a bit about what makes these putters “Battle Ready.”

Multi-Material Construction

All of the Battle Ready putters are constructed from multiple metals. Depending upon the design, the main body is constructed from stainless steel or aluminum. From there, liberal amounts of tungsten are affixed to the head, significantly boosting MOI. All of the Battle Ready putters also feature removable weights, allowing you to fine-tune the swing weight to your preference.

Megha Ganne, 17, became the first amateur to lead after a round at the women's Open since Jane Park did it after one round at Newport Country Club in 2006.

Joe LaCava, who has caddied for Tiger Woods for the past 10 years, has reunited with former boss Fred Couples for the week at the PGA Tour Champions event.
