Testers Wanted: Titleist Vokey Wedge Fit

Can 15 minutes and 15 swings make for better wedge play? This is what the Vokey Wedge Fitting App aims to do. Traditionally, wedge fittings are best made outside on grass, in the rough and especially out of bunkers to see what wedges best fit your game. Between loft and grind options, wedges are one of the more complicated areas of golf and getting it wrong can make the game a whole lot harder than it already is.

How Does This Work?

The Vokey Wedge Fitting App, unlike other online apps, is an in-person fitting where a fitter can match you with the ideal loft, bounce and grind combinations in just 15 minutes. This starts with a player interview to go over your game and tendencies, followed by the hitting portion of the fitting session. Here, you will take a series of shots where the app will calculate the best options for you based on the launch monitor data provided.

Key areas are angle of attack and shaft lean at impact. Combining these data points with the various shots hit (roughly 15 in total) apparently is enough for the Vokey Wedge Fitting App to provide a full assessment of what wedges the golfer should be using.

The Testing Opportunity

Don’t worry. There is more to this test than just the app and a 15-minute fitting experience. We want four testers to go through the Vokey Wedge Fitting App with a certified Titleist fitter and share their experience. This includes what it was like and how accurate they feel the results were. The testers will then receive the wedges chosen by the app and put them through on-course testing to see how the results match up.

We want to know if this could really replace a full wedge fitting. Can an indoor wedge fitting on a mat with only 15 swings really be just as good as an outdoor fitting? Let’s find out.

Testers Wanted: Volvik Vivid Matte Golf Balls

Volvik claims they make the best, highest-performing golf balls with a matte finish. We are already in the process of having the “Tour-level” Volvik Condor and Condor X golf balls tested but not all golfers want or need a “Tour-level” golf ball. This is where the Volvik Vivid golf ball enters the conversation.

The newest version of the Vivid series was released in February and is available in seven attention-grabbing colors. The Volvik Vivid is a three-piece ball designed to be longer and more accurate with better visibility. It features a patented Nano Bi Core blend that adjusts in different temperatures to provide maximum energy transfer. The mid-layer is made of ionomer to further enhance ball speeds and reduce side spin. Then there is a patented SF Matte surface finish that is highly visible and claims to offer improved spin and durability. The last feature on these golf balls is their V-Focus alignment aid. Featuring a triple-line design, Volvik states the combination of lines work as a multidirectional visual key system to help golfers with alignment.

The Testing Opportunity

We are looking for four golfers to test, review and keep two dozen Volvik Vivid golf balls. They can test in any color of their choice. Do you use matte or colored golf balls? We want to see how these compare to others in the same market space to determine if these really are the best-performing golf balls with a matte or colored finish.

If you are a golfer who uses colored golf balls, this may be the perfect test for you!
