Got a Slice Problem? Check Out This Deal

There’s nothing worse than stepping up to the tee box feeling confident in the work you’ve been putting in on the practice range only to slice the ball out of bounds…again. While a club isn’t the only thing that can fix your slice, today’s deal may help bring it under control.

The PING G425 SFT is on sale now at PGA Tour Superstore.

The BEST Driver for a Slice. Period.

The PING G425 SFT was our best driver to help a slice in 2022. Featuring “Straight Fly Technology,” this driver has some sneaky draw-bias engineered into it without being obvious. This includes a fixed 23-gram tungsten weight that shifts the center of gravity closer to the heel.

If you’re a slicer of the ball, this is the driver for you.

Pre-Owned Golf Buying Checklist: 5 Things to Know Before You Buy

There are two great reasons to buy pre-owned golf clubs. The first is that you’ll save some money. The second is that you can find solutions specifically tailored to your game. Golfers are constantly buying, selling and trading equipment. If you are smart about how you purchase pre-owned golf clubs, you can come across some excellent equipment. Here are five things to know before you buy used.

1. Grip condition and replacement costs

Adding a new grip isn’t a big deal when you buy a single golf club. However, if you are purchasing an entire set of irons, make sure you consider the added expense of grip replacement. The cost of regripping can range from around $8 to $15 per club.

2. Grooves on wedges

Try to get a good indication of the groove condition on any wedges you purchase. The condition of the grooves can impact spin and worn grooves can make it more difficult for you to control the ball around the greens.

Wedge technology changes but not as quickly as irons and woods. You can get away with something a little older that has grooves in great condition.

3. Cosmetics are not the most important

Take a look at the club’s overall appearance. A few minor scratches are normal but serious dings are an issue. It’s pretty easy to tell if someone used their headcover on the driver or dragged it along the cart path.

Testers Wanted: PXG Irons

MyGolfSpy Forum is pleased to announce a new testing opportunity from PXG. This is the first time PXG has participated in MGS member testing and there couldn’t be a better product than their newly announced Gen7 irons and Black Ops irons.

About PXG

Since its inception in 2013, PXG has been bold, even brash. The evolution has been fascinating: from a boutique, high-priced, exclusive brand to a company offering a range of options with price points that will suit most, if not all, golfers.

PXG places significant focus on fitting, ensuring customers have the proper products to get the best performance from their game. This is evident with their various in-store fitting options (at PXG-specific or partner stores) and the option of over-the-phone fittings.

Their PXG for Heroes program provides first looks, discounts and more for active duty, veterans, first responders and law enforcement personnel. It is a “thank you” to all those who have served and is a core pillar of the brand.

The PXG Perception

PXG is a polarizing brand. This was evident in the 2022 Brand Perception Survey done by MyGolfSpy. PXG ranked high with related words such as Modern, Premium, Engineering and Innovation but also ranked high with less positive keywords such as Hype, Follower and Gimmick.

The Quadrennial Olympic Conundrum

I would even go so far as to say that the links occupy a place as a traditional form of art. But the artifice should be subjected so that it remains hidden. Unnecessary hazards, however prettily they may be shaped, will destroy the unity and harmony of the natural surroundings; they should merge in the fairways as if they had been made for centuries. Staying Positive

Staying positive while playing golf is crucial for maintaining focus, enjoying the game, and performing well. Here are some tips to help you keep a positive mindset on the golf course:

Tips for Staying Positive While Playing Golf:

  1. Set Realistic Expectations:

    • Understand that not every shot will be perfect. Set achievable goals for your round and focus on the process rather than the outcome.
  2. Focus on the Present:

    • Stay in the moment and focus on each shot individually. Avoid dwelling on past mistakes or worrying about future holes.
  3. Practice Gratitude:

    • Appreciate the opportunity to play golf, the beauty of the course, and the companionship of your fellow golfers. A positive mindset starts with gratitude.
  4. Visualize Success:

Vice’s Drip, Shade Golf Balls Are Too Cool

Miss me with those Plain Jane golf balls. The only thing I want in white are my Oreo cookies and Air Force Ones.

Golf should be fun. And one company in particular is doing its part in making the only piece of equipment you use on every shot a whole lot more fun (and cooler, too).

Think back to 2020. The white golf ball still reigned supreme. Few, if any brands, dared to mess with its pristine pearlescent finish. Sometimes it takes a rebel to turn things upside down and see them a little differently.

That’s exactly what Vice Golf did. Hence, both the Vice Drip and Shade golf balls were born. The original Drip design sold out almost instantly. Now, nearly five years later, that same speckled specimen (along with its “shady” brother) are flagship designs in Vice’s ever-expanding lineup of cooler-than-most golf products.

For my money, you won’t find a cooler golf ball.

The Creator Classic Is PGA Tour’s First Big Investment In YouTube Golf

The PGA Tour has seen the value of YouTube golf. Now the league is making its first real move in the space.

The Tour has announced The Creator Classic, a 16-player tournament taking place Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 4 p.m. Eastern time prior to the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. The nine-hole tournament will be streamed on the Tour’s YouTube channel in addition to ESPN+ and Peacock.

The event will feature Tyler Toney from Dude Perfect, the Bryan Bros, Fat Perez from Bob Does Sports and Good Good’s Garrett Clark, Brad Dalke and Sean Walsh. All of them will be playing East Lake’s newly restored back nine with the first eight holes being gross stroke play—the final hole (and possibly beyond) will be a playoff between the top four finishers. Foursomes will be announced the day before the event.

The Creator Classic will get the full treatment as ShotLink, Trackman shot tracing, on-screen graphics and commentators will all be part of the stream. Pro Shop Studios, the production company behind the Netflix hit “Full Swing,” will partner with PGA Tour Entertainment to run on-ground and broadcast production. The event also has a primary sponsor. Blackstone, an outdoor cooking equipment provider, has ponied up to support the outing. Any fan with a Wednesday ticket to the Tour Championship can attend.

This is a big moment for the Tour which has been hesitant to embrace YouTube golf despite the recent explosion in popularity. The Tour is not exactly known for creative content ideas—even the DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour) has been miles ahead in that category—but it’s jumping in now.

Metalwood, FootJoy Created the Ultimate Dad Sneaker

I have the sudden urge to mow the lawn, grill a few glizzy’s and crack a few knee-slappers. Is something wrong with me?

Nope, I’m just a dad. Now, thanks to Metalwood and FootJoy, I can purchase a pair of golf shoes that matches my perfectly paternal persona.

Introducing the Metalwood x FootJoy Golf Sneaker. Constructed of hand-select premium waterproof leather, the Golf Sneaker sits atop a Duramax outsole and Pulsar LP cleats.

It’s not just the boring teal accents and aged white midsole that make me love the Metalwood x FootJoy Golf Sneaker so much. The story behind the shoe is just as, if not more, compelling.

“Both of my parents were always so supportive of my golf journey. They took me to lessons, practice and tournaments. My dad worked especially hard to make this all happen. He’s not a golfer—this is not a story about my relationship with golf and my dad.” said Cole Young, Metalwood Studio.

Throw These Golf Balls Away!

Q: What would you say to somebody who’s playing refurbished golf balls?

I get it. I get the concept. They’re cheaper. It’s appealing. Sounds legit because they’re out there in the store so you think if it’s in a store it’s got to be legit.

Don’t buy them, ever.

If you have them, I would suggest opening up your trash can immediately and dumping them in.

And you might be thinking I’m maybe overreacting to that. I think if you’ve seen what we’ve seen, you’d be appalled. Sometimes it will be a Bridgestone underneath the new paint job. That’s the equivalent of owning a Nissan Altima and getting a paint job and thinking it’s a Lexus.

Will it Golf? Yeti Roadie 15 Hard Cooler

Did you happen to notice that it’s hot out there?

Seriously, July has lost its mind here in NorCal where triple-digit daily temperatures are the norm. Odds are good that this summer is a spicy one for you as well.

It’s almost too hot to even play golf!

OK, that is taking things a little too far. Naturally, we are still going to play golf when it is hot. However, playing in the heat does mean we need to actively plan how we can survive when the sun is blasting.

Staying hydrated is the main concern. Some courses make maintaining hydration easy, providing water at numerous locations. Other courses seem unfamiliar with the concept of having water available. They either think golfers don’t need water or they assume that players will pack enough water from home.
