TaylorMade Irons: Model By Model

To say TaylorMade is a popular iron brand would be a huge understatement. They continually produce high-performing irons for all golfers and have a broad range of options. From Tour players to beginners, TaylorMade has irons for that golfer. With consistent advancements in technology, they are often recognized as a market leader and a brand many golfers enjoy playing. Their iron line is extensive, even overwhelming, and that can lead to some confusion. So we are here to break down the current TaylorMade irons, model by model, to let you know which ones fit your game.

TaylorMade Release Cycle:

There is a trend among most larger manufacturers of making a family model that releases each year along with the drivers and fairways that share the same name. These models are usually aimed more towards the game-improvement category.

Then there are secondary family models that are released every 18 to 24 months. These usually fit into the player’s distance, player’s, Tour and super game-improvement categories.

TaylorMade follows this trend with their current Qi irons that were released with the Qi10 drivers and fairways and their P-Series irons that have a longer release cycle.

Key Technologies for TaylorMade:

When talking about TaylorMade, there are always several technological discussion points that are key or worth noting. They have long tagged new technologies in their irons that help improve one area or another. Not all of them make it to the following model. However, some have and these are the ones we will highlight here.

Bettinardi CB24 and MB24 Forged Irons

Bettinardi produces their first-ever sets of irons. The MB24 irons are muscle-back irons and the CB24 are cavity-backs.Both sets feature multi-material forged solid construction.MSRP $1,600 at Bettinardi.com

Do you like surprises? I do. Good surprises, anyway. In this day and age where all information is everywhere, good surprises seem few and far between. Rarely does something happen without spoilers.

I was very surprised when I received an email last month from Bettinardi asking for my iron specs.

Not putter specs. Iron specs.

Surprise! Bettinardi, a company that has been making putters since the last century, has created, not one, but two sets of forged irons. How about that?

Maybe we could have anticipated this since Bettinardi has made wedges for quite a few years now. Even so, the move from making wedges to full iron sets seems like a big jump.

Now Set to Debut in 2025, TGL Has Space to Surprise

After being forced to postpone its start date due to a storm that wrecked a state-of-the-art simulator golf arena, TGL has officially rescheduled its inaugural season.

The high-tech, indoor simulator league backed by the likes of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy is slated for primetime Tuesday night ESPN broadcasts starting in January 2025. TGL was originally slated to start this past January before Mother Nature intervened.

There will be a lot of shoulder shrugs about Tomorrow’s Golf League, centered around two-hour matches, shot clocks, timeouts and arbitrary teams representing random cities.

At the same time, TGL has more than enough runway to surprise next year. I would argue that, from an entertainment perspective, it has significantly more potential than LIV.

I get it. After all that has occurred in professional golf over the past few years, it’s hard to rally emotionally for yet another idea designed to put more money in the hands of elite professional golfers and other key stakeholders.

How to Keep High Scores Off Your Card

How many times have you been having a steady round and, boom, from nowhere, a triple bogey or worse derails your round?

For me, the answer is weekly but my point is that we have all been there and there is nothing worse. Bad shots are inevitable but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to be done.

Here are five tips to help minimize the card-busting high scores.

1. Know Your Tendencies

Knowing your tendencies and choosing targets around those tendencies can save you strokes immediately. Shot Scope, industry leaders in golf technology and performance tracking, recently launched the MyStrategy feature which allows golfers to create their own unique course strategy based on their personal performance data.

Cool, but what if I don’t track my shots?

TGL mulligan: Woods, McIlroy league begins Jan. 7

After an unsuccessful launch attempt of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's tech-infused golf league, a new date of Jan. 7 has been announced for TGL, with matches set to air in prime time on ESPN and ESPN+.

Golf Training Aids for Less Than $100 That Actually Work

Getting better at golf can be expensive—worth it, but expensive. Golf training aids range in price from $10 to more than $500. We put together some of the best golf training aids for less than $100. You’ll find that each option on this list is designed to assist your golf game (maybe more than one area of your game) and help contribute to lower scores without breaking the bank.

Eyeline Golf Speed Trap

The Eyeline Golf Speed Trap is designed to help you hit straighter shots. The tool creates a path that you swing through to help eliminate shots like slices and hooks. The adjustable rods let you determine how precise you want to be.

Although you can get a similar setup using alignment sticks, the adjustable (padded) rods make it much easier to visualize and practice. The Eyeline Golf Speed Trap can be used in both the short and long games.

Who it’s for: Golfers who struggle with swing path and accuracy will find the Eyeline to be a good solution. It’s also a good slice-correcting aid.

GoSports Golf Pure Strike Golf Training Discs

These Pure Strike Golf Training Discs from GoSports may be cheap but they can make at-home practice a lot more effective. You’ll like this training aid if you struggle with thin shots or are known for skulling one across the green.
