President Donald Trump is expected to arrive at Bethpage Black for the opening day of the Ryder Cup later Friday, a decision organizers hope will eliminate long security delays for event patrons.
Bryson DeChambeau has been the recipient of harsh criticism ahead of the Ryder Cup, so U.S. captain Keegan Bradley went to bat for the polarizing LIV Golf star.
After 40 years in the golf business, Tour Edge is finally getting into the ball biz.
For a company that’s been making golf clubs since 1986, the move into balls might seem overdue but, according to Tour Edge CEO and Founder David Glod, the timing is right.
“This is a monumental step for Tour Edge,” said Glod. “After four decades of relentless innovation in golf clubs and bags, we’re applying the same commitment to performance and quality to golf balls.”
If you’re scratching your head thinking you remember a Tour Edge ball from years past, you’re not alone. Several readers reached out after our story about the Exotics ball appearing on the USGA’s Conforming Golf Ball List, swearing they’d played Tour Edge balls before.
They hadn’t. At least not according to Tour Edge.

Scottie Scheffler and several of his U.S. teammates said they are planning to donate their entire Ryder Cup stipends to charity.
At the Ryder Cup, player compensation is a talking point that won't go away. Who's getting paid and how much is completely different.

What’s the difference between Left Dot and Left Dash?
The simple answer is that Left Dash is a Pro V1x and every Pro V1x variation Titleist has created to date has featured four-piece, dual-core construction. Left Dot is a Pro V1 and every Pro V1 has been a three-piece, single core offering.
If you’d like, we can be done now. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
If you’d like a deeper dive, feel free to keep reading.
In the world of Titleist golf balls, there’s more than what you’ll find on retail shelves. Beyond the familiar Pro V1 and Pro V1x lies a collection of Custom Performance Options (CPOs)—specialized variants originally developed for Tour professionals but occasionally made available to dedicated golfers who know enough to seek them out.
Golf ball rankings, longest, spiniest, softest, etc., are helpful but they don’t always tell you the whole story. Sometimes you need a deep dive into a single model to understand what it really does. That’s what we’ve done here with the Srixon Z-STAR Diamond. Using MyGolfSpy’s 2025 Ball Test presented by UNRL, we broke down how it performed with the driver, irons and wedges to give you the insights you need to decide if it belongs in your bag.
The Z-STAR Diamond is part of Srixon’s 2025 premium lineup, positioned between the softer qZ-STAR and the firmer, longer XV. It’s a three-piece urethane ball with a compression of 102 for players who want a blend of distance and control.
Key tech includes a FastLayer DG Core 2.0, a thin urethane cover enhanced with Spin Skin+ coating and a 338 Speed Dimple Pattern to promote lift and reduce drag.
Srixon markets it as a “balanced distance and spin” ball with a mid-high flight and the test data gives us a clear picture of how those claims hold up.
The Z-STAR Diamond consistently produced strong carry numbers in testing with higher spin and a steeper flight window that trades a bit of rollout for control.

I recently went through a driver fitting and I can’t emphasize enough the importance of knowing a few things ahead of time to make the most of the experience. Fittings can be a bit overwhelming, trying to soak in all the numbers and options at once. And while some fittings are free, most are not, so it pays to get the most out of the time you have. These five keys will help you make sure your driver fitting is worth it.
The same driver head can feel completely different depending on the shaft. That’s why you should never limit yourself to just one. Once you find a shaft profile that feels good, test it in multiple heads.
This way, you’ll know if you’re actually comparing drivers or just shafts. Keep an open mind, because some of the biggest changes in performance come from shafts you might not have picked yourself. Don’t go into a fitting thinking you’re “stiff flex only” or “low-spin head only.” The numbers may surprise you.
Driver length isn’t one-size-fits-all. I’ve always played a driver that’s technically too long for me but it works. When I test shorter drivers, I lose distance. When I test longer drivers, I struggle with control. The point: don’t assume a standard length or a measurement based on height is automatically right. Test different lengths and see how they actually affect your game.
It’s tempting to chase the longest shot on the screen but where you strike the ball on the face is what is most important. I found lie angle had more influence on strike pattern than I expected—some drivers kept me centered while others had me drifting off the toe or heel.

Hi, I’m Connor. I have a golf shoe problem.
Well, I really have a shoe problem. But because I work here, that shoe problem has quickly morphed into a golf shoe problem.
I have probably 40 pairs stashed in my home office. I’ve worn or tried another 100 or so. All of this much to the chagrin of my loving wife who looks past my golf shoe faults each time I adopt a new pair from MyGolfSpy HQ.
So this got me thinking. What if my wife is right? What if my energetic toddler and her growing appetite deserve more financial attention than my budding golf shoe collection?
If I had to offload my hoard of golf shoes and play in only one pair for the rest of my life, what would it be?

Here's information on all 12 players on both the U.S. and European Ryder Cup teams, as well as each captains and their assistants.

We’re introducing a new segment to MyGolfSpy that will focus on debate and roundtable discussion.
Each week, our writers will tackle pressing topics in the golf world. Sometimes those topics will be gear-related but many times they will be 19th-hole debates about professional golf, the recreational game or something else.
We figured starting with this week’s Ryder Cup would be a nice debut. The matches will get underway this Friday morning at formidable Bethpage Black on Long Island. (We hear the New York crowd is already pre-gaming.)
For our first installment of MGS Debates, Sean Fairholm is arguing in favor of Europe retaining the Cup while Brittany Olizarowicz says the American side will defend home soil.
And this isn’t just for show—we both really believe this is how things will turn out (Turncoat Sean will be drinking Guinness all week).
“I was standing on the first tee when the music kicked on over the PA. A booming ring announcer’s voice followed: ‘Introducing from Escondido and San Diego, Joe and Latt. They are MEN ON A MISSION … and that mission is simple—try not to lose an entire box of Pro V1s today.’
Laughter erupted before a single shot was hit. It was the Tag Team Scramble—grand entrances, walk-up music and over-the-top, pro-wrestling–style introductions with custom championship belts replacing the usual trophies. It was absurd, hilarious, unforgettable—exactly the kind of event that defines Happy Hour Golf Club where connection and creativity matter just as much as birdies and pars.”
Noly Tengonciang recalled this story with a laugh when I asked him to share one of his most memorable experiences running his affiliate club.
He founded Happy Hour Golf Club in San Diego, Calif., a Type 2 affiliate club: independent, roaming, built on friendship rather than fixed facilities. They show up to play, share stories and keep the conversation going long after the last putt drops.
This is a new concept of a golf club—mobile, social, as much about people as it is about performance.

Real golfers. Real reviews. MyGolfSpy “First Take” reviews are just that. Real golfers’ experience with the latest and greatest gear in the world. This review isn’t meant to be an ultra in-depth guide; that’s reserved for our world-class Most Wanted testing. We created “First Take” reviews as a way for the everyday golfer to share their first impressions, thoughts and experiences with a new club.

The Jailbird S2S immediately grabs attention with its bold black and white Versa stripes and three dot alignment system. For me, the stripes are the real standout they make lining up putts simple and reliable.
The AI-One insert gives the putter a soft, responsive feel, helping deliver consistent ball speeds across the face. The sound is muted, and it’s easy to sense exactly where you’ve struck the ball
I switched to the Jailbird S2S after years with a Scotty blade, where my confidence had completely disappeared. This putter provided the stability and reassurance I needed. My stroke feels more repeatable, I’m leaving myself closer to the hole, and those dreaded comeback putts no longer feel intimidating.

If you’re a PXG fan, our 2025 testing provided a full look at how the brand’s lineup performs across the board. PXG had putters represented in all three categories: blade, mallet and zero-torque. From traditional milled blades to high-MOI mallets and the brand’s entry in the growing zero-torque space, the results highlight both strengths and a few areas to watch. Here is some more insight to narrow down which PXG putter is best for you.
PuttView Handicap is a Strokes Gained–style metric used in MyGolfSpy’s 2025 testing. The lower (more negative) the number, the better the performance. Each putter is graded on short, medium and long putts, along with an overall average.
| Model | Category | Overall | Short | Medium | Long |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PXG Milled Tour Series Brandon | Blade | -2.3 | -0.2 | -1.8 | -7.0 |
| PXG Battle Ready II Closer | Blade | -0.6 | -0.8 | +3.4 | -4.3 |
| PXG Battle Ready II Bat Attack | Mallet | -5.7 | -3.3 | -5.5 | -10.6 |
| PXG Allan | Zero Torque | -6.7 | -8.0 | -2.6 | -8.3 |
What we found in 2025 testing is that PXG putters can be strong on long-range putts but several models struggled in the all-important mid-range zone.
If you’re confident on short putts but want more consistency on long lags, the Milled Tour Series Brandon and Battle Ready II Bat Attack are your best bets. Both showed above-average performance from 20 feet with the Bat Attack standing out thanks to its high-MOI stability.
For golfers who get shaky over those knee-knockers, the PXG Allan was the standout. It produced one of the best short-putt scores in the entire zero-torque field and paired that with solid long-putt numbers. One thing to be aware of is that it ranked near the bottom on mid-range putts which can limit scoring upside.
