The Best Golf Hats to Top Off Your Tee Time Ensemble

Only a few things are absolutely mandatory for a loop around the golf course: clubs, bag, balls and tees. However, there are accessories so compulsory that they might as well be part of the official golf uniform. Chief among these is the golf hat. Virtually every player wears one from juniors all the way up through the best of the best on the PGA Tour (but they get paid for it).

The best golf hats serve many functions so it’s no surprise they’re ubiquitous in the modern game. Obviously, the main purpose of a hat is to protect your head and eyes from the sun’s harsh rays and the occasional unexpected downpour but, in today’s world, they’re much more than utilitarian. A golf hat can be a style flex, an opportunity to rep your favorite brand, your favorite team or the finishing touch on your go-to golfing outfit.

In the end, a golf hat has to check a few essential boxes but, beyond that, it can make whatever kind of statement you want. If it’s comfortable on your head, makes you feel good and helps you focus on your game then it’s a perfect accessory.

Ready Golf – The New Norm?

Everyone has heard of “ready golf” but how many of us actually know what it is and practice it? You may think you do but do you, really?

Understanding Ready Golf

Ready golf is a departure from traditional golf in the sense that it is more flexible and more efficient. It’s about speeding up the game in an organized, logical and safe fashion.

Key Principles

Play When Ready: Rather than playing the traditional “who’s away” (the player furthest from the hole goes first), ready golf encourages players to proceed with their shot as soon as they are prepared and their fellow players are aware they are doing so.

Advance To Your Ball: If you are able to safely move to your ball without interfering or interrupting your playing partners, do so.  Start visualizing your next shot and be ready when you arrive at your ball.

Keep Pace Of Play: Keep up with the group in front of you. You want to be courteous and allow them to play at normal speed but remain just behind them. If you are finding yourself falling behind, pick up your ball after double par and move to the next tee.

Testers Wanted: Fujikura Ventus Driver Shafts

Testers Wanted!

The Fujikura VENTUS driver shafts have taken the golfing world by storm since their introduction. Now Fujikura is looking to take another step forward with the new VENTUS Blue launched this year. Claiming to be more stable and consistent with tighter dispersion and increased ball speeds than its predecessor, the new Fujikura VENTUS shaft, powered by VELOCORE technology, has a lot to live up to.

About The Fujikura VENTUS

A premium driver shaft that has made its way into the bags of many tour professionals and amateurs, the Fujikura Ventus with VELOCORE has become a go-to golf shaft since its introduction in 2018. In 2024, Fujikura released a new VENTUS Blue version with VELOCORE+ technology and advanced materials to improve on what was already a very popular choice. A key change in the 2024 version is a simplified bend profile with a re-engineered multi-material bias core claiming to improve stability for more consistent strikes. Additionally, the new VELOCORE+ claims to enhance feel and the overall performance of this high-end driver shaft.

What Is Being Tested

We are looking for four golfers to test, review, and keep one of the 2024 Fujikura VENTUS Blue driver shafts. Then we want to know how they perform in the hands of real-world golfers, how they compare to the current driver shafts they are using, and, of course, if they help you hit more fairways. We want our selected testers to evaluate the new VENTUS Blue on the course and on launch monitors for a full breakdown with data that can help golfers make better and more informed purchasing decisions.

Are you the perfect tester for the Fujikura VENTUS driver shaft?

Ball Lab: 2024 Titleist AVX

MyGolfSpy Ball Lab is where we quantify the manufacturing quality and consistency of golf balls. Ball lab does not infer durability or guarantee your performance. Today, we’re reviewing the 2024 Titleist AVX.To learn more about our test process, click here.

About the 2024 Titleist AVX

The Titleist AVX is into its fourth generation since its introduction in 2018. During that time, MyGolfSpy staff report that the AVX “has developed a loyal following, becoming a staple of the Titleist lineup.”

For 2024, the ball has been completely re-engineered from core to cover. Jeremy Stone, VP of Marketing for Titleist, says, “This includes a reformulated core, casing layer, and a new softer urethane cover. This reformulation produces longer distance and more short game spin compared to the prior generation AVX. For many golfers, it also feels softer, primarily due to the softer cover.”

While we have yet to test the AVX during our robot Ball Test, Stone says it is characterized as “low flight, low spin relative to Pro V1 or Pro V1x or Pro V1x Left Dash.”  Furthermore, “it is an important note that when we reference Low Spin in this case, we are comparing to other premium, urethane offerings. So compared to Pro V1, the spin is lower.

“But compared to many other golf balls in our product line-up, it has more spin due to the overall construction and, in 2024, a softer urethane cover than the prior AVX model. The variables that create “Launch” are the golfer and the club. The golf ball aerodynamics and spin then influence the flight and overall peak height of a golf ball trajectory.”
