SkyTrak+ Moving the Launch Monitor Needle (In More Ways Than You Might Think)

Is a SkyTrak+ launch monitor on your Christmas list?

Better check your naughty or nice status. Santa could have some tough decisions to make.

“We’re running a little short because we’ve sold way more than we forecasted for the holiday season,” says Nick Clearwater, GOLFTEC’s Vice-President of Instruction and one of the world’s top swing coaches.

“Our integrations into our facilities have slowed down so hopefully things are evening out on the inventory side. We know a lot of golfers are hoping a SkyTrak+ winds up under the Christmas tree.”

Can’t really blame them.

10 Ways To Improve Your Game Over The Winter Months

Now that the days are shorter and colder (for most of us anyway), you’ll probably be spending more time working on your game inside. But just because you aren’t able to get out to play and practice as much outdoors, it doesn’t mean that you can’t continue to improve.

In this week’s lesson, I’m going to cover 10 Winter Training for Golf activities to keep improving your skills ahead of the season starting again in the spring.

1. REFLECT ON THE PAST YEAR

Ongoing reflection is an important part of the game improvement process, and your year-round review is probably your most important one.

Did you set goals for 2023? If so, how many of them did you achieve? Take yourself back to some of your best rounds and celebrate your successes and improvements in your game. Why do you think you were able to make progress? Reinforce what’s working for you.

For those goals that you didn’t achieve, why do you think you weren’t able to do so? Was it that those goals were too ambitious? That you weren’t motivated enough to put in the work? Or did you not work on the right things or in the right way?

What the Forum is Saying About the Rollback

MyGolfSpy Forum Reactions: Golf Ball Rollback

The golf community has been abuzz with the highly debated topic of golf ball rollback. With the potential to alter the game as we know it, everyday golfers are passionately expressing their concerns and expectations surrounding the rollback, offering a glimpse into the diverse perspectives held within the golfing community. As the conversation continues to intensify, the impact of the golf ball rollback will be far-reaching, shaping the future of the sport for both players and industry professionals alike.

So what do everyday golfers like you have to say about the rollback? Keep reading and be sure to check out the ongoing Forum discussion here.

Two Sides of The Ball

The golf ball rollback discussion reached fever pitch in 2023. There were clear views from both sides on whether a rollback is necessary.

Shapotomous discussed how other sports approach professional versus amateur play: “I never really understood the distress over bifurcation. Most sports have rules and equipment differences between professional and non-professional ranks, between men’s and women’s leagues of the same sport and rules differences between USA leagues and international play for some sports as well.  Whatever level you want to play at, just use the approved equipment and play by the rules established for that competition.”

Another viewpoint from revkev: “with golf – bifurcation exists already – certainly you have the option to play a back set of tees if you tee it up where a tour event is played I supposed you could perhaps be playing from the same set as used in a tournament – but certainly not under the same course conditions, with the same pin placements – all that stuff makes a dramatic difference in the game – rest assured that the scores at the US Open this summer will be higher than they were this past week at Torey Pines.  It will be the same course, but it won’t.

How will the Ryder Cup Handle Pro Golf’s Chaos?

Two years and counting until the next Ryder Cup.

What that will look like—and what men’s professional golf will look like—by then is anyone’s guess.

The biennial contest between the United States and Europe is scheduled for September 2025 at Bethpage Black in New York State. It’s assumed the locals already are stockpiling insults to hurl at the Europeans.

There are few safe assumptions beyond that.

The chaotic state of men’s pro golf has already put the Ryder Cup into a blender. LIV Golf’s influence impacted this fall’s edition as defectors Henrik Stenson, Lee Westwood, Paul Casey, Martin Kaymer, Ian Poulter, Graeme McDowell and Sergio Garcia were among those ineligible to participate as players or captains on the European side.
