Chris Gotterup birdied the final four holes for a 7-under 64 and a 1-stroke lead over Robert MacIntyre on Friday after the second round of the PGA Tour's inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic.

SuperSpeed, which I think is fair to say was the first swing speed training system, has sued The Stack System, a competitor founded by noted golf biomechanist Sasho Mackenzie and Marty Jertson, a long-time PING engineer and Tour competitor, for false advertising.

SuperSpeed and its representatives claim that The Stack System has engaged in a marketing campaign to mislead consumers about the real-world gains its product produces.

It’s worth mentioning that members of the MyGolfSpy Staff and our community members have used The Stack System, SuperSpeed, and Rypstick, a third competitor.

Our experience (and that of our community members) suggests that all three tools work. As with many things in golf, the one that’s right for you likely depends on your budget, your use case, and more generally, your preference.

The larger point is that when golfers stick to the program, any of the three are likely to deliver more swing speed.

Today’s story on Vice Golf isn’t the story I was expecting to write.

If you’re a regular reader of MyGolfSpy, you know “partner content” is usually a corporate profile and a discussion of that company’s products and what makes them different/unique. When I sat down with Vice Golf co-founder Ingo Duellmann and Chief Growth Officer Benny Pfister, that’s pretty much what I thought would happen.

Instead, I was thrown a curveball that even Sandy Koufax or Dwight Gooden would have envied. And that curveball came with a nice dollop of German mustard on the side.

I don’t know if Vice Golf’s new approach to designing golf balls means their golf balls will be “better” than everyone else’s. Heck, the company itself says their balls won’t fly farther or be more accurate. But this story is about the process, not the end result.

And the process, dear readers, is the story. Whether the results of that process (i.e., the 2024 line of Vice Golf balls) work for you is, well, entirely up to you. But for today, the process is the compelling story.

This has been a busy week in the world of PGA Tour governance.

The short summary: Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have official seats at the table for the Tour’s ongoing negotiation with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund which bankrolls LIV Golf.

Woods, McIlroy and Adam Scott will be among the most critical player voices when it comes to potentially bringing professional golf back together. (Tiger’s role in the game continues to be an intriguing one in 2024.)

The long summary is, well, a lot longer and more complicated.

Woods, McIlroy and Scott are on a “transaction subcommittee” that will be directly involved in negotiations with the PIF. Woods had been appointed to the Tour board last August so this is an extension of that position.

The Topgolf Callaway and Acushnet Q1 2024 financial reports came out this week. Before you go wailing and moaning that the end is near or proclaiming, “these OEMs can’t keep charging these prices,” remember the words of Michael Corleone.

“It’s not personal. It’s just business.”

Both Acushnet and Topgolf Callaway make their money from golf but they go about it differently. And while top-line sales and bottom-line profits tell one story, how each company arrives at those lines is another one entirely.

But before we jump into the numbers, please indulge us as we share our standard disclaimer:

These will not be included. Instead, I will be recommending other stellar courses from all around the globe. My list for the best courses takes a different turn. Some of these courses you will have heard of and several will be new to you. All are fun, offer variety and present different challenges that are worth checking out and playing the next time you fire up your Rapsodo MLM2Pro.

Rapsodo Sim Options and Features

The simulation options the Rapsodo MLM2PRO offers are extensive. Golfers can use them at the range or into a net as well as choosing the ball they are using for improved sim results. There are a few key options to turn on to make sure the experience is more rewarding. 

These are, for starters, to ensure elevation is turned on. Without it, all courses are flat and boring. Next is to set penalties for lies. Same thing. With it turned off, it is just hit and hope and then move on to the next one with little punishment for wayward shots.
