Every day we’re bombarded with marketing. With the myriad voices pulling you in every direction, how can one be sure what is truth and what is not? At our core, MyGolfSpy serves the consumer. That means we have an obligation to inform you when a product lives up to the marketing hype. In the same vein, we also bear the duty of telling you to avoid a product that doesn’t deliver on its promises. Welcome to “Ad” to Cart, a new series where we test the gear that’s being plastered all over your social media feeds.
For our first ever “Ad” to Cart article, I’m reviewing Mantra Golf Polos. The premise is simple: Is the Mantra Polo the best polo on the planet?
More succinctly, should you be spending your hard-earned cash on a polo from Mantra?
While my opinion is subjective to my personal preferences, I always strive to give my raw, honest feedback. My review of the Mantra Catalyst polo is no different.
I’m considerably impressed with Mantra. There’s a lot to like. There are four key things I look for in a polo: a good structure (particularly around the collar) ample stretch, great fit and bonus features. These will be criteria on which I judge the Mantra Catalyst polo.
Ask most golfers what their Handicap Index represents and you’ll likely get a little hemming, then a little hawing. Eventually, you’ll get a rough guess. Ask them where that number comes from and you’ll almost certainly get a blank stare, followed by, “It comes from my phone.”
A lot of wonky math goes into your Handicap Index. While you may never do the math yourself, it’s important for serious golfers to understand where the numbers come from and what they mean. The good news is that since the advent of the World Handicap System in 2020, every governing body on the planet uses essentially the same system.
The better news?
All of them have an app.
No matter where you live, the math is virtually the same so let’s see what a Handicap Index is, where it comes from and what it really means.
We’ve all been there at some point in our golf lives.
For reasons unknown, the group behind sends a ball bounding toward us, violating one of the most basic rules in golf: the landing area has to be clear before you hit.
Maybe it was a blind tee shot and an honest mistake. Maybe the group couldn’t see your cart because you were searching for a ball in the trees. Maybe someone hit a ball farther than they ever have, resulting in a total accident. Maybe it was simply a matter of impatience. They couldn’t take slow play anymore, so a message was sent.
If you play golf long enough, you will inevitably find yourself in one of these situations. Someone will hit into you or you will (accidentally, I hope) hit into someone. It happens.
But what happens after that moment?

As I enjoy lunch with Steve Witkoff and Ari Pearl, the brains behind the development and creation of Shell Bay Club in South Florida, I can’t help but be distracted.
A multi-day J.Lindeberg photoshoot continues on the nearby nine-hole par-3 course. In the distance, workers are hammering red shingles on the roof of the new 20,000-square-foot clubhouse. As Witkoff, founder of the Witkoff Group, and Pearl, CEO and founder of PPG Development, explain the impetus for Shell Bay Club and its seemingly endless amount of high-end amenities, members and their families stop by our table to shake their hands and chit chat.
After we eat, I’m given a tour of the adjacent 12-acre practice facility called The Bays. Equipped with a driving range with your choice of golf balls, two indoor simulators, putting studio and a club-fitting experience, this golf performance lab has all of the bells and whistles to not only perfect your swing but to help you be properly equipped to optimize it.
Spanning across 150 secluded acres in Hallandale Beach, north of Miami, Shell Bay bills itself as a world-class private club. And rightfully so. Opened in October 2023 with an initial $1 million membership fee—which has since increased to $1.35 million—the invitation-only Shell Bay Club boasts an 18-hole golf course designed by Greg Norman, a 20,000-square-foot clubhouse, Grand Slam-caliber European clay tennis courts, pickleball and padel courts all set within a garden, a basketball court, batting cages, bowling alleys, a billiards room, fine dining and a 48-slip yacht club.
Shell Bay features a 60-room boutique hotel and spa in partnership with Auberge Resorts as well as a 20-story residential tower overlooking the course with 108 bespoke condominiums and penthouses. Selling for $2 million to $11 million, residences come with an automatic social club membership, though there’s an additional fee for the golf course.

There is a lot of cool gear in the golf equipment world that doesn’t always fit neatly into Most Wanted Tests or Buyer’s Guides. You still want to know how it performs. In our We Tried It series, we put gear to the test and let you know if it works as advertised.

Connor. Director of Content and resident sneakerhead. Now that I’ve got a newborn, it’s a little easier to convince my wife to let me get new golf shoes. “See, honey! It’s pink! It matches her little outfit!”
(I have no shame.)
It’s that easy. Now the real challenge is to see how long I can keep up the ruse.

Do you have a favorite brand? Is there one that you could play from putter to driver for the rest of your life?
We want to gain a better understanding of which brands you trust with your game.
If there’s anything we’ve learned after decades of testing, it’s that you should BYOB (be your own brand). As such, it’s important for you to take stock of what’s in your bag, and which brands you’re giving your hard earned cash to.

I’ve been on the hunt for the best golf deals out there. This one is up there with the best of the best.
I doubt we’ll see another sale like this come around again soon. Today only, the Walter Hagen Performance Golf Pants are on sale for $20 (normally they run you $80). But, if you buy two pairs, you get an extra 50% off the second one, bringing your total to just $30 for two pairs of comfortable, classic golf pants.
Yep. $15 a pop. Where else can you buy golf pants this good for a price this low?
That’s a rhetorical question. The answer is “nowhere”.
This deal is expected to sell out, so act quickly before it’s gone.
Golfers are always on the lookout for equipment that promises to enhance their game and the AutoFlex Dream 7 driver shaft has generated considerable buzz. This Forum Member review summarizes the experiences of multiple testers, providing an insightful guide to help you decide if this innovative (and expensive) shaft deserves a place in your bag.
MyGolfSpy Forum members were given the unique opportunity to test the AutoFlex Dream 7 driver shaft, a product that has been making waves in the golfing community. Known for its Korean Hidden Technology (KHT), the AutoFlex Dream 7 claims to offer unparalleled flexibility and control, adapting to a wide range of swing speeds and styles. This testing aimed to provide a thorough, real-world evaluation of the shaft’s performance, drawing from the on-course and launch monitor performance our eight testers experienced.
This Forum member review of the AutoFlex Dream 7 driver shafts highlighted several key aspects appreciated by testers. The shafts were praised for their unique “Korea Hidden Technology,” which combines high-quality carbon fiber and proprietary materials, offering a lightweight and flexible design that claims to improve distance and accuracy. Testers noted an initial adjustment period due to the shaft’s unusual flexibility but once acclimated, many reported significant improvements in their drives with less effort. The AutoFlex Dream7 shafts provided a higher ball flight and reduced dispersion, leading to longer and generally straighter shots. Some testers mentioned a learning curve, with early rounds showing inconsistent results, but subsequent use resulted in a noticeable performance boost for most.
That said, at the end of testing, some had mixed feelings about whether to keep the AutoFlex Dream 7 shafts as their new gamers. Some, like KC Golf and chisag, reported fantastic numbers and decided to continue using the AutoFlex shafts, appreciating the significant improvements in distance and control. Others, such as Jean D, felt the shaft never felt entirely natural despite extensive testing and chose to revert to their previous setups or explore alternative options. Overall, the AutoFlex Dream7 shafts demonstrated impressive potential but personal preference played a significant role in their long-term adoption.
