Golf clubs come in different types and configurations, each designed for specific distances, trajectories, and situations. Here’s a complete overview to help you understand or choose the right clubs:
Use: Long-distance shots, typically off the tee or fairway.
Key Clubs: Driver (1-wood), 3-wood, 5-wood.
Features: Large clubheads, long shafts, low lofts.
Use: Approach shots, tee shots on short holes, and precise control.
The 2025 PGA Tour season is four months in. We’ve analyzed every winning driver on the Tour this year, breaking down which brands dominated, along with shaft selections, loft choices, and other key factors. Here’s a detailed look at every driver that’s won on Tour in 2025.
Titleist dominated the early 2025 PGA Tour season, earning six wins, the most by any single brand. Titleist’s driver lineup, particularly the new GT series (GT2 and GT3), proved especially popular, along with the trusted TSi and TSR series.
Winner | Driver Model | Shaft |
---|---|---|
Justin Thomas | GT2 (10° @ 9.25°) | Mitsubishi Diamana Prototype |
Garrick Higgo | GT2 (11°) | Graphite Design Tour AD DI 7 X |
Russell Henley | GT3 (10.0°) | Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black 70g 6.5TX |
Joe Highsmith | GT3 (8.0°) | Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 60g 6.5 |
Nick Taylor | TSi3 (10.0°) | Fujikura Atmos Tour Spec Blue 6 X |
Brian Harman | TSi2 (9.0°) | Graphite Design Tour AD IZ 5 S |
Ludvig Åberg | TSR2 (9.0°) | Fujikura Ventus Black 6-X |
The Titleist GT2 was the fifth-best driver of 2025 in the Most Wanted Driver testing. Its distance performance helped. The GT2 is the longest driver of 2025, with the GT4 and GT3 not far behind.
PING drivers have captured 5 of the first 19 PGA Tour events in 2025. What’s most interesting about the PING lineup is that you’ll find the G425, G430, and G440 drivers mixed in. There are still several players on TOUR who have yet to transition to the G440, with many keeping the G430 LST in play.
Winner | Driver Model | Shaft |
---|---|---|
Ben Griffin | G430 Max 10K (9.0°, STD) | UST Mamiya LINQ White 7TX Proto |
Harris English | G430 LST (10.5° @ 9.5°) | Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 6-X |
Andrew Novak | G440 LST (7.5°) | Project X HZRDUS Smoke Green 70TX |
Brian Campbell | G440 LST (9° @ 9.8°, Flat+) | Mitsubishi Diamana GT 60 TX |
Viktor Hovland | G425 LST (9° @ 8.5°) | Fujikura Speeder 661 TR X |
The G430 Max 10K, which helped Ben Griffin win the Zurich, was the best driver of 2024 in our testing and still earned a runner-up finish when it was retested in 2025. It’s a top performer on Tour and for amateur players.
Putting is the great equalizer in golf. You don’t need 190 mph ball speed or a 320-yard drive to be the best with the putter. What you need is consistency, feel, and the right gear. And right now, no one on the PGA Tour is putting better than Nico Echavarria. Echavarria is a 30-year-old from Colombia who’s quietly climbed to the top of the strokes gained putting rankings. The good news for you is that he’s doing it with a putter you can buy for under $130.
Echavarría is a two-time PGA Tour winner, with victories in 2023 and 2024. In 12 starts this season, he’s recorded a runner-up finish, a top 10, two top-25s, and earned over $1.5 million.
But the real story is on the greens, he leads the Tour in strokes gained putting, averaging +0.907 per round and totaling +28.104 over 31 measured rounds. He’s doing it with a putter you can buy used for under $130: the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K Seven.
The Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K Seven was originally released with a retail price of $399.99, but you can now find it used for under $130.
When it first hit the market in 2023, the big story was that Odyssey brought its multi-material “5K” technology to mallets. Up until then, the Tri-Hot 5K line was reserved for blades. With the addition of the Seven and Rossie mallets, players finally had access to Odyssey’s high-MOI tech in more forgiving, familiar shapes.
Buying used golf clubs is one of the smartest ways to build your dream bag without breaking the bank. But it’s also a project that requires some strategy. Here are our best tips for building a used golf club set you’ll be proud to bring to the first tee.
A sky mark on a driver is nothing compared to grooves on a wedge that are completely worn down. Irons and wedges don’t last forever. If you are purchasing clubs from someone who has played a ton of golf, chances are the grooves are probably kind of shot.
Run your finger across the grooves if you can. If they are shallow in the middle with deep edges on the side, it’s not worth your money. Anything that’s a few years old and played regularly will not have the same spin performance as a newer club would have.
Worn grooves directly impact your ability to score.
Don’t overlook the shaft. It’s where most of the dangerous damage hides. Since replacing a shaft can cost as much as the club, it’s probably not worth the money.
I’ll bet you didn’t know that lululemon has a sister-site, lululemon Like New, where they sell gently used clothing at a discounted rate.
I’ll bet you you also didn’t know that as apart of their Like New site, they have a section entitled “Hidden Gems” which is full of not-so secret scores on lululemon gear. The only catch? The products are generally a little older, or at the very least, can’t be identified by name/nomenclature.
So, where you’d typically buy a pair of lululemon ABC pants, the Hidden Gems section may have a pair of “casual trousers” for sale.
In any case, the nomenclature doesn’t matter. What DOES matter is that the Hidden Gems section of lululemon Like New is full of great finds one one of my favorite apparel brands in the world.
If you feel like perusing the section at all, be my guest. But the easiest way to find deals suited for you is using their Hidden Gems quiz.
Golfers love a good debate, blades vs. cavity backs, walking vs. riding, and yes, spiked vs. spikeless shoes. Despite major advancements in both categories, a few outdated beliefs are still hanging around. Here are the biggest spiked vs. spikeless shoe myths golfers still believe in 2025.
This may have been true a decade ago. Not anymore. Modern spikeless shoes feature advanced outsole designs with multi-directional lugs, engineered rubber compounds, and targeted traction zones. Some even outperform spiked models.
Our best spikeless shoe of 2025, the PAYNTR All Day SC, boasts some of the best traction we’ve seen across both spiked and spikeless golf shoes.
Comfort depends more on the overall construction of the shoe than whether it has spikes. Today’s spiked shoes are built with the same lightweight cushioning, knit uppers, and flexible materials as their spikeless counterparts.
In our 2025 shoe testing, the Skechers Go Golf Elite Vortex Rival earned the spot for the most comfortable shoe. They are also one of the best golf shoes for the money in the spiked test.

Unless you walk all the time or ride all the time, it can be hard to decide which golf bag to buy. Cart bags and stand bags each have their strengths and choosing the correct one comes down to understanding your golfing habits, preferences and priorities. Here’s a straightforward breakdown of the “cart bag versus stand bag dilemma” in 2025.
If you’re primarily using a golf cart or push cart, a cart bag is ideal for you.
These bags are designed specifically for carts, with features like strap pass-through channels or locking bases to secure the bag firmly without shifting.
A stand bag features built-in legs for stability on uneven terrain and provides lightweight comfort, reducing fatigue.
Storage is great but it comes at a cost: extra weight.
