What’s the connection between peppers and golf? Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe it’s something about bringing heat to your short game? Perhaps it’s a metaphor for the burning sensation you feel when you chunk a wedge shot? Or someone at TaylorMade just really likes peppers and thought, “You know what golf needs? More vegetables.”
Whatever the reasoning, I suppose I’m fine with the TaylorMade Limited Edition TP5 pix Peppers golf balls. Golf has always been a sport that takes itself a bit too seriously, so why not put a habanero on your golf ball and call it a day?
The TP5 and TP5x pix Peppers golf balls are adorned with every variety of capsicum you can imagine, from sweet bell peppers for the golfers who order their chicken wings mild (and probably boneless) to ghost peppers for the masochists who think a triple bogey isn’t punishment enough.
According to TaylorMade , nothing will add mouth-watering flavor to your game quite like these new TP5 and TP5x pix Peppers golf balls.
Sure. Let’s go with that.

If you thought the par-4 18th hole at Quail Hollow was a brutal finale to the PGA Championship, you weren’t imagining it. It played as the hardest hole of the tournament with a scoring average of 4.410.
The 17th ranked second, making Quail Hollow’s finishing stretch one of the most punishing in major championship golf.
Here’s how every hole at the 2025 PGA Championship played, ranked by scoring average from toughest to easiest.

If you watched the final round coverage on Sunday at the PGA Championship, it looked like the first hole played quite difficult. However, as the day went on, the real trouble was found on 16, 17 and 18.
Quail Hollow’s 18th and 17th holes were the two toughest of the week, ranking third- and fourth-hardest on the entire PGA Tour this year behind only two holes at Torrey Pines. The 18th alone saw 46 double bogeys or worse.
Nick Faldo may not be posting daily swing breakdowns but he’s left behind a few gems. This is one of them. It’s a simple way to learn distance control on short chip shots.
Best of all, you can bring it to the range and start practicing right now.
This tip helps you control distance on chip-and-run shots inside 20 yards. It eliminates guesswork by giving you a system to match your backswing and follow-through lengths with how far the ball should go.
Here is a step-by-step breakdown of Nick Faldo’s distance control drill for chipping:
Faldo uses a visual reference: look down at your lead hand (left hand for righties) and imagine how far it travels in the backswing. If it moves back two inches from center, move it forward the same distance through the shot. This will give you a consistent reference.
Ever notice how some days your shots feel pure while other days it’s like you’re swinging a garden hose? The culprit might be hiding in plain sight—your grip.
I’ve seen it countless times on the lesson tee. A golfer struggling with consistency, fighting a slice or hook or just not getting the distance they should. We tinker with stance, swing path and tempo but sometimes the real issue is literally in their hands.
Your grip is the only physical connection you have to the golf club. Think about that for a second.
Every intention, movement and ounce of power you generate must transfer through those fingers wrapped around a rubber or leather handle.
Get the grip wrong and you’re fighting an uphill battle before you even start your backswing.
When the Masters was over, we compared the LIV players to the PGA Tour players. There were 14 LIV golfers in the field at the 2025 PGA Championship but, just like Augusta, their performance was not dominating.
The PGA Championship was the Scottie Scheffler show.
Scheffler collected his third career major with another clinical performance, leaving everyone (LIV or PGA Tour) chasing. Still, the head-to-head numbers are worth a closer look.
Group | Players in Field | Made Cut | % Made Cut | Total Winnings | Best Finish |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
LIV Golf | 14 | 8 | 57.1 % | $2,523,278 | Bryson DeChambeau – T2 (-6) |
PGA Tour / Other | 142 | 66 | 46.5 % | $16,229,251 | Scottie Scheffler – 1st (-11) |
Scheffler’s win and DeChambeau’s runner-up finish dominate the headlines but a closer look at the full data tells a far more nuanced story.
Scheffler’s $3.42-million winner’s share topped the combined payout for every LIV golfer who cashed a check at Quail Hollow. LIV guys are used to bringing home big paychecks but that wasn’t the case at the PGA.
Golf can seem overwhelming when you’re new to the game. It feels like every shop, website and seasoned golfer is pushing another gadget or club you “absolutely must have.” The truth? Beginners don’t need all the gear they’re being sold. Let’s break down exactly what’s essential and what’s not.
The Rules of Golf state that players can carry 14 golf clubs in their bag. For beginners, that number isn’t necessary. Most clubs will travel about the same distance until you start hitting the center of the face consistently.
A custom fitting for new golf clubs is reasonable but premium upgrades are probably not worth it. Find out what specifications you need for your game and use that information to help find great used equipment or last year’s models.
It’s not that beginners don’t need premium equipment; your golf swing and abilities change quickly (and often) when you are a new player.
What You Need:
Are you even a golf company if you don’t do some America-themed stuff for summer?
Apparently, you’re not, which I suppose partially explains why PXG has unveiled its 2025 Stars and Stripes Capsule Collection. The collection arrives just in time for summer tournaments and holidays, offering U.S. golfers a way to showcase their national pride on the course.
Founded by Marine Corps Vietnam veteran Bob Parsons, PXG has consistently woven respect for service and country into its brand identity. This latest collection extends that commitment with updated PXG pieces with patriotic styling.
The Stars and Stripes lineup is strategically timed to accompany golfers through America’s summer celebrations, from Memorial Day rounds through Fourth of July tournaments and beyond. The collection spans both on-course necessities and what I suppose qualify as lifestyle pieces.
“The Stars and Stripes Capsule isn’t just about gearing up for the course – it’s about standing for something,” said Parsons. “It’s a salute to our country, our military and to every golfer who plays with heart, grit, and pride.”
